Product Info

Awards from Transworld are building up and the sick, smooth ride of the Rossignol Taipan Snowboard proves it. Designed with versatility in mind The Taipan Snowboard features the AmpTek All-Mountain camber giving you the freedom to rip the hardpack on one run and slash the pow on the next without sacrificing an ounce of performance.

Product Details

Rocker Type

AmpTek All-Mountain 60% rocker / 40% camber for more control and stability. Patented AmpTek technology integrates reversed camber tips into a regular cambered board (between the feet), extending the sidecut radius to go all the way to the tip kicks so that this amber-to-reversed-camber construction guarantees faster transitions, more pop, smoother landings, increased floatation, more grip, more edge pressure and more control. AmpTek All Mountain tech is especially nimble in the powder.

Designed for intermediate to advanced riders, there is nowhere that this board can’t take you. The AmpTek All-Mountain camber will have you floatin in the pow and shredding on the groomers.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

I bought this board as an all-around stick and I was very surprised at how well it rode. It has an amazing amount of pop. It is flexible without sacrificing stability and it has very good edge hold. However, the edge hold is also the only thing I didn't like initially, because it made it a little hard to transition from one edge to the other. Once you get used to it it's not a big deal, but this board is not as playful as other boards I've ridden (e.g. Skate Banana) and is more at home riding all over the mountain with the occasional natural hit rather than at the park.

The board's main strength is its versatility, but it won't excel at either end of the riding spectrum (it's not a park noodle or a stiff freeriding plank). If you can only have one board, this one will serve you well. Especially at the clearance price (I'm tempted to buy a second one to have as a spare)

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

Great Board all around, performs well, the one misrepresentation is the graphic, I thought this board had a nice graphic from the pictures, but when I got it, I and everyone who has looked at it feels it is absolutely jaw dropping. Rossi did a great job with this one. (especially for the price).

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

Great board - it's amazing in the powder and has a lot versatility for all mountain and even some light park riding. I stuck with the default setback stance and was easily cruising through 6-12 inch deep tracked powder and crud.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

Good board, rode it a couple times last season and absolutely loved it. This was my second board and has a lot of fun on it. The fact that it has a wide nose and is semi-directional makes the board good in powder. The graphic is absolutely stunning and well done. Rossi has done a great job with this board. :)

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

On skis for 20 years, boarding for only 3 years, first stick was a barely used beginer board from a "B"ig "B"rand name which I used 2 seasons and quickly grew to hate as I improved. I bought the Rossi as a demo from Evo in the Outlet before the 2011 season and it was night and day. I stay out of the parks so I can only speak of this board for its great edge hold, speed and confidence building. This board is still better than me, and looks pretty good too.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

This is my first board. So hard for me to write a super technical review. For the price I got it for it beats rentals. Looks nice. Rides nice. I am tall and skinny with size 10 or 11 feet. I did not want a super wide board. This one made sense for me. Maybe a bit short but as a beginner who rides groomed trails in northeast us (vt and Ny). I don't see a ton of powder. That said I am pretty fast for a beginner. This board had some features that listed as being for intermediate riders so I thought I might grow into it. Was cheap enough that if I get a couple of years out of it I will have gotten my monies worth.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

This board is great for riding the whole mountain, great in powder, nimble enough for trees, and grips the hard pack. Some bad things though the board has trouble on the ice because of the rocker tips, also mine I noticed has become de-laminated. Just a manufacture defect and I intend to get it fixed or a new board with the 1 year warranty the board comes with.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

I bought this board b/c it was a great deal, but then again upgrading from rental equipment, anything was going to be an improvement. I bought gear in this order ... boots > bindings > board. Boots are DC Judge, bindings are Flux TT30's. Overall ... I like my set up and had a blast on my first couple times out. If you are looking for a board that's fun ride in the park and on groomers without spending a lot of money, this is your board. However, if you want stiffness for higher speed to carve or go steep and deep, I would pay more for a higher quality board. This board is fun to ride and I will be buying something a little nicer in the near future, but this is a great board for someone who only rides 6-10 days a year or wants a board so they can goof off with their friends without blowing a ton of cash.

I used this board about 3 times during this season. Very stable, good speed, and easy-turning.
I occasionally stop by lamps, and experienced very smooth and comfortable landing.
I just guess Good for beginner who are entering to intermediate level.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Snowboard 2012:

I bought this board after 6 or 7 years of riding a Burton 169W. The Burton is fast as all getout, and soars through the powder. I was alittle hesitant to downsize to a 156, but I read nothing but good reviews of the Taipan (including a Good Wood award from Transworld), and since it was offered at the deal of a lifetime, I had to buy it. I LOVE IT. This board, although significantly shorter than what I'm used to, immediately brought out my true skill and made me feel more comfortable right away. It is springy and poppy. Very playful and incrediably responsive. The Rocker Camber Rocker design makes maneuvering effortless. I haven't taken it on any serious blacks or in any deep powder, but I have no reservations for how it will behave.

I would recommend this board to any rider of any skill level. At the very least as a second board. I fell in love immediately and can't wait to push it to its full potential. Rossi hit a home run on this one.

Also, the graphics are absolutely stunning in person. The only reason I gave it a Con of dings easily is because the top of the deck scuffed up easily on my first day. But, that's only because I love looking at it. You won't regret this board.

This is my first snowboard and I have been really happy with it. I have used it in powder, pack, and icy conditions. I think it excels on pack and groomers, but was also a ton of fun in moderate powder (around 6" or less) and in the trees. It holds its edge well in icy conditions too. I was actually quite impressed with how much speed the board has, especially after a good waxing and detuning. The board is (obviously) not perfectly suited for heavy powder or back country riding. Overall, I am very satisfied with the board and think it is quite deserving of all the accolades. One of its best qualities is that it has fantastic edge-to-edge transfer. It is very difficult to catch an edge on this board (especially compared with many regular cambered boards). I think the camber/rocker combination is great for most any skill level/rider.

This is a great board for the price. The board is an all arounder... on the flexible side for an all mountain board, but not so much that you'd mistake it for a park board. Still pretty stable at speed and it holds an edge really well. Happy with my purchase.

Paired with Forum Shakas and K2 New Blacks, this board is incredibly responsive, easy to turn, and stable at speed. While I do miss the speed/convenience of step-ins, I much prefer the ride and feel of the straps.

This board is an awesome value and has totally exceeded my expectations!

The board is an amazing started board. For the price it can't be beat, hands down. Limited investment, so if it gets dinged up learning to ride it's no big deal.

Board rides very well down the slopes, turns very quickly, and carves extremely well. Taken it out the last 3 weekends, and loved every second of it. Well reviewed by a number of people, and has recieved a few awards here and there - also recomended by thegoodride.com for their budget boards, so it was good enough for me.

Plus it's a gnarly looking board.

This is a really great board for an intermediate rider who is on a budget. Has a bit too much flex for when the powder gets deep or trying to break through hard pack, but its manageable. The sensitivity is impressive for a board at this price-range and the graphic is awesome! Feels solid and works great for kiteboarding as well.

I have nothing bad to say about this board. Apart from getting it on a sweet Evo deal, it shreds just as sweet. Very stable at high speeds, yet light and flexible for whatever else you may have in store for it. Definitely my new favorite board.

I ride about 20 days out of a season. This board is great for freeriding and all-mountain and will kill on jumps at the park. It's not as maneuverable in terms of rotations, jibs, and butters as other boards, but will take you from powder to park with steeze.

I've been riding for a few years now, and my first couple boards have been camber. I wanted to try a rocker so when I saw this during the Halloween sale for obscenely cheap, I figured even if it sucked I wasn't out that much. I finally got a chance to ride it a few times, and I like it way better than my other board. It feels more stable at high speeds, doesn't catch edges, and seems to have more pop. I am on ski patrol on my local hill, so wanted something a bit more "tame" graphic wise and easier to handle a toboggan with. So far I haven't found anything I don't like about it.
