Rossignol Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard 2012

Awards from Transworld are building up and the sick, smooth ride of the Rossignol Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard proves it. Designed with versatility in mind, the Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard features the AmpTek All-Mountain camber giving you the freedom to rip the hardpack on one run, and slash the pow on the next without sacrificing an ounce of performance.
Rocker Type
AmpTek All-Mountain 60% rocker / 40% camber for more control and stability. Patented AmpTek technology integrates reversed camber tips into a regular cambered board (between the feet), extending the sidecut radius to go all the way to the tip kicks so that this camber-to-reversed-camber construction guarantees faster transitions, more pop, smoother landings, increased floatation, more grip, more edge pressure and more control. AmpTek All Mountain tech is especially nimble in the powder.
Designed for intermediate to advanced riders, there is nowhere that this board can’t take you. The AmpTek All-Mountain camber will have you floatin’ in the pow and shreddin’ everywhere else.
Flex
Flex Rating – 6 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)
Construction and Core
The Wood 6420 core features 6420 cross-weave fiberglass wrapped around a vertically laminated wood core that gives you durability and performance without breaking the bank.
The deep progressive radius gets progressively longer as you move towards the nose, but it is centered and very short between the feet for instant reactivity and a consistent feel when riding switch.
Shape
Directional Twin for smooth carving and effortless pow runs
Sidewalls, Edges and Base
Magne-Traction maximizes the edge pressure between the feet so you can ride with more control and stability in the gnarliest conditions
Sintered 440 base

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard 2012:

    Good Snowboard

Hello Prospecting Snowboarder! If you are a gaper that likes to look at pretty pictures of boards and factors only that decision, WHELL this board has you covered. This beautiful craft of wood and plastic looks like it could be hung up on a wall, and some of the graphics are light sensitive, so the board looks fresh in both god's gloriously natural light and man's oppressively artificial light.

But here is the kicker: This thing can RIDE. No foolin. I've not been riding long - 3 to 4 years under my weak fabric belt - but this thing has changed snowboarding for me. Before that I was packing a doody ash "Hyperlite" from the 90s that did nothing but bring me down the hill and back. Snapped in half that poor arrow, RIP.

ANYWHEY, this board - for all intents and purposes - is a major improvement over anything else i've ridden. A real dream made of dreams in lands of dreaminesses.

    * Before i was taking on the groomers like any other normal snowboarder, after i was walking past the "SKI PASS LIMIT" signs in clear search for the glorious invention known as washington state powder.

    * Before i was taking off from moguls and the occasional knuckle, after I was flying high off of medium jumps like nothing else (no tricks, really new at park).

It can take hits and it can place names (the damage shows, but a good wipethrough clears it all up), the graphics can be hung up on MOMA, and the ride is smooth as clouds (dependent on conditions).

TL;DR: Buy it. Buy it. Buy it.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard 2012:

Never got to ride the board because the wrong size was sent. EVO took care of their mistake and sent a correctly sized Angus in replacement as they were out of stock of the correctly sized Taipan. Having not ridden the board I can only comment that I liked the graphics of the Taipan a lot and it seemed to be put together well.

Comments about Rossignol Taipan Mid Wide Snowboard 2012:

From the moment I strapped in I felt confident. It moved from heel to toe effortlessly and the hybrid rocker design made me feel very planted above the contact points. Landings were solid and not sketchy at all. During a recent powder day it handled a tight group of trees well.

Only complaint was that it chips really easily. Not even 3 days into my trip and a semi-large chunk was taken from the tail.

I'm new to the sport and have just completed my first season boarding - I was using an Atomic Vantage to start with but am looking to step up and through a ton of research I picked the Taipan as a board that would suit my needs best. Since I bought this board out of season I can't comment on ride but from a build quality perspective the Taipan is a cut above the Atomic I have - I'm counting down the days till I get to try it out.
