Rossignol Angus Snowboard 2012: The one that changed the game. The original Rossignol Angus Snowboard proved rocker wasn’t just for powder by winning Transworld’s Good Wood and Snowboarder’s Best of Test awards in the Best All-Mountain category. The new and beefier 2012 Rossignol Angus Snowboard with AmpTek All-Mountain camber technology means that this board can rail on man-made hardpack and float effortlessly in the lightest pow on earth. Early rise tip for absorption, positive camber between the feet for punch, carbon for explosive pop, Kevlar® for the hard landings, and a sintered base for durability and speed.
Flex
Flex Rating – 7 (1 Stiffest – 10 Softest)
This all mountain freestyle board’s directional twin shape provides a perfectly symmetrical nose and tail, but with inserts that are located 1 to 2cms towards the back. It is slightly directional for more versatility but you can still easily adjust your stance to twin if needed. The stiffer flex rating of 7 also gives you plenty of pop and response.
Construction and Core
The Wood C/K core combines Rossignol’s standard 100% wood core with carbon and Kevlar® fibers that give punch and durability for an outstanding performance during park sessions and all terrain riding.
The progressive radius provides a short radius between the feet that gets longer towards the nose and tail for incredible edge grip and explosive power when you exit your turn.
Shape
Directional twin
AmpTek All-Mountain 60% rocker / 40% camber for more control and stability. Patented AmpTek technology integrates reversed camber tips into a regular cambered board (between the feet), extending the sidecut radius to go all the way to the tip kicks so that this amber-to-reversed-camber construction guarantees faster transitions, more pop, smoother landings, increased floatation, more grip, more edge pressure and more control. AmpTek All Mountain tech is especially nimble in the powder.

Comments about Rossignol Angus Snowboard 2012:

I ordered a 2011 Angus 158 mid-wide (6'0", 180 lbs, US 10 boot) from Evo late last summer. I understand that the 2012 Angus is no different from the 2011 except for graphics. Along with my Angus I bought a pair of Flow the Five bindings, also from Evo. Got to ride my Angus with Flow bindings last week. The Angus lived up to all the good reviews I found on the internet, that led me to buy it in the first place. Extremely versatile board. Floats like a dream in pow (6-12" deep) even though I had my stance centered. Even though this is a directional board, I didn't feel any difference riding regular or switch. It behaved more like a true twin in that respect. Buttered and pressed much better than my ooold camber board but that's to be expected. Very flexible in the tips, yet very stable and forgiving, in the chop and chunder.

This is my first experience on anything other than traditional camber. Given the camrock profile of this board, the transition was almost non-existent. One thing I noticed right away was the forgiving and catch free nature of the board, yet a camber-like ride and feel - great for flat basing or getting off of lifts without being squirly.

This board is much more responsive and easy to turn than my old camber stick. As I continued to ride this board for days, two words kept coming to mind - CONSISTENT and PREDICTABLE. Its behavior was very linear - it did more or less of whatever it did before, the harder you pushed the board. This was very comforting. The edges held really well on icy blues and blacks without being catchy.

The one thing that I found was that I did not have the same ability to carve or make dynamic carved turns like my old camber board. Going from edge to edge really quick, it seemed like I was able to make dynamic skidded turns, where with my old board they'd be dynamic carves. I don't think this is a drawback of the board. I'm still learning to adjust my ride style to fully exploit the board's strengths.

This is a GREAT all mountain freestyle type of board that can can bomb groomed blues and blacks with abandon all day long, if you so prefer. On a side note, my Flows match up with the board really well. Nothing like strapping in on the chair and riding away like a skier :)!

I'm kinda surprised that for all the good press that this board has gotten over the past couple of years, there aren't more reviews for this board here.
