Product Details

Rocker Type

MtnPop RockerRocker between the feet with positive camber in the nose and tail. For some riders, this is the best of both worlds—plenty of float in powder and playfulness between the feet, and plenty of power and responsiveness to pop off lips and rip turns from the positive camber in the nose and tail.

Flex

Flex Rating: 4 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff)A medium flex to cover a large spectrum of terrain and demands from the rider

Sidecut

QuickRip SidecutAdvanced sidecut geometry gives a short, playful feel at slower speeds and a longer, faster and more stable feel at higher speeds. The mid-board contact points end the running length at slow speeds and add grip at high speeds.

True Twin for easy switch riding.

Core

PopCore MatrixLow density wood in two zones through the board for a lightweight profile with a flexible poplar matrix

Laminates

Bambooster Dual Inline TechnologyTwo bamboo rods running under the bindings and out through the nose/tail, both longitudinally and torsionally, add an unprecedented amount of power.

StraightBiaxDesigned for the fun and creative rider, this laminate has a forgiving response through presses, jumps and jibs.

Glass V Stringer TechnologyAdded for longitudinal and torsional power, these stringers add an extra boost of high energy pop.

Base

XTRDThe standard of simplicity that is durable, quick, and made to stand up to the everyday beating—a 1.45 abrasion resistance holds strong and is easy to fix.

Binding Compatibility

Rome Snowboards will accommodate 2x4 and 4x4 insert patterns.

My Head Defiance buckled on me mid-season, and I needed a cheap replacement. Decided to go with the hybrid rocker to see if I really get best of both worlds. Never owned a rocker before.

I was unhappy at first with the lack of stability both on the flats and with tight turns. I have since gotten used to it, though I still feel a little nervous on the flats. Seems to catch edge easily.

I did notice a big improvement landing jumps. I am actually just getting into jumping, and this board really moved me forward, knowing I could depend on it.

Have not had it in good powder, just leftovers, and was not real happy. Seemed to be sensitive to any imperfections in the underneath. I would not trust this board so much on a cruddy day-too soft.

Despite being a true twin, I found switch stance not as trustworthy, maybe spent too long on a directional board.

I'm glad I have it, though, and will continue to use it on "park days" but will likely pick up a stiffer camber board for powder days.

If you want a true all around board with emphasis on park, I say get it. It you are more of a speed demon/groomer type, there are probably better boards.

The camber underfoot really balances out the rocker. Great float in pow with great great control on hardpack. Good median between park and all mountain, nice and flexy but still stable, unlike most stiff all mountain boards. Edges were a bit overtuned and really edgy right out of the box, but nice and sharp, I recommend detuning them. Does ding quite easily on the edges, but what can you expect from a board at this price.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

Took it out for a day this past weekend, and loved it. It's my first board, after renting for 4+ years, so I was stoked! It moves nicely, and carves well. Mostly rode around the mountain, and hopped a few boxes here and there, and this board help up perfectly. Definitely recommended to any level!

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

This board is great for all around mountain riding. Rides a little different then a camber board in the flats, but has lots of forgiveness on landing jumps and switch riding. I noticed it runs a little slow on slushy days in the flat spots, not as fast as a camber board. But what you give up in speed you gain in playfulness and versatility. Great for all occasions.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

This was my first non-traditional cambered board. I was hesitant to jump on the rocker profile, but decided to give it a shot with a cheap board.
I immediately was able to adjust my riding (the cambered zones under the bindings probably helped out). This board is not as fast as my stiffer cambered K2 Darkstar, but I didn't buy it to bomb down groomers.
I only tried it out on spring condition on Jay peak, which were all mashed potatoes with slushy parts. So I wasn't able to really test how well it could grab an edge, but I imagine this would be more difficult.
I wasn't comfortable going as fast as on my old cambered board, and felt like it would get washed out more often.

All in all, cheap board, fun ride, good way to test out a hybrid camber. I will probably look into buying a more sturdy hybrid board in the future.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

This board rides nice, but is a very poorly constructed board. After less than a month I had a pressure crack, and two top sheet delams in different spots. For the price, it might be good for someone learning, or someone who only rides once or twice a year. Not for someone who wants or needs a solid deck that will hold up.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

I got this as an emergency replacement for a buckled board. Decided to try hybrid twin instead of my typical directional camber. It is a bit shorter, lighter and softer, which is probably why it acts the way it does.
It took a couple sessions, but I go used to it. I am pretty happy over all. The comments below are in comparison to my camber board.

great for jumps (I do not do rails)
good for moguls (if not icy)
            ok switch
            ok stability with speed
            ok in powder
            not stable in crud
hard to get an edge on icy groomers

I took this board out twice since I purchased it and the top layer is peeling back on the toe edge from basic carving. I will be sending this back for a replacement board. Good news is Rome has a 2 year warrenty but the consumer has to pay for the return shipping to return the defective product

I bought this board because i wanted to see what the newer technology was all about. Cambered boards is all ive ridden. This board has a medium flex so when going over boxes or rails its easy to press on. Very easy to butter on the mountain when riding around. This board handles like a champ when smashing top to bottom runs at any resort. Park is where i find the most joy, it handles so much better than any board ive ever owned. I would recommend this board to anyone that will listen! Rome boards are solid and it seems like they were built in heaven! Do yourself a huge favor.....buy Rome! Evo, thank you for a great deal! Customer for life!

East Coast riding. Great edge hold on ice. Not as flexible as my old Sapient flat rocker but much more control, way faster and more responsive from edge to edge, stable at high speeds and fantastic for carving. The only downside is that the board dings easily.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

I consider myself an intermediate rider and I stick mostly to carving on the groomed runs, with a desire to try more backcountry powder. I decided on this board because the specs on it seemed to fit my riding style and the price was unbeatable. The only hard part about my decision to buy this was which size to go with. The only other board I've owned was a 159. I'm 5'11" 175lbs without snow gear, so I could have gone with either the 158 or the 161. I bought the 161 figuring a little bit (2cm) increase would make very little difference and might actually help since I stick to carving. I've been happy with this board and my decision to buy it. The only negative so far is that the binding mounting holes are more spread out than I had anticipated, so to get the stance I'm comfortable and familiar with I have to set my bindings at the setting nearest the center of the board. Not a big deal, as it works, but just something worth noting.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

This is my first Camber/Rocker/Camber board, so I was a little sketched out at first but it's great for everything I'm looking for. Good for rails, great edges that bite when taking off of jumps. I cannot believe the quality for the price. I'd recommend this to a beginner and advanced. My only issue with this board is cosmetic, and that's the laminate that peels a bit around the corners. I may forward the pictures to Rome to see if they'll cover it under the warranty, if not, I still can't complain.

Comments about Rome Factory Rocker Snowboard 2013:

The camber underfoot really balances out the rocker. Great float in pow with great great control on hardpack. Good median between park and all mountain, nice and flexy but still stable, unlike most stiff all mountain boards. Edges were a bit overtuned and really edgy right out of the box, but nice and sharp, I recommend detuning them. Does ding quite easily on the edges, but what can you expect from a board at this price.

This is my first board so I don't really have anything to compare it with. But it has been a great board and seems to have quite a bit of pop to it. I have started to try some jumps and it seems to handle the landings well. Edges catch fairly easy, but that could just be because I am still learning.
