Product Details

Rocker Type

Hybrid All MountainHybrid All Mountain enhanced response with a level micro-camber zone that extends from under the feet through the tail: a perfect blend of rocker and camber, built for charging, response and smooth performance

Flex

Feel-O-Meter: 7 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff)This is a stiffer, responsive flex designed for hard chargers who take on the the entire mountain. Ride's Feel-O-Meter rating is adjusted year to year to align with current industry standards. A board unchanged from last year may receive a new feel number this year if the industry scale shifts.

Shape

Directional TwinA combination of twin and directional snowboards, directional twins feature a similar size tip and tail but the tip is more flexible than the tail.

Core

Silencer 5™ CorePurifies the response from Ride's Pop Glass, Carbon Arrays and linear reinforcements by filtering out vibration for a super smoothed-out snappy core

UL CoreBuilt to smooth the Ride and lighten the load // The UL Core has tip-to-tail full thickness silencer stringers, placed strategically within the wood core for high strength and less weight.

Laminates

Carbon Array 5™ LaminateThis power distribution technology provides total board control in every stance location with widespread carbon stringers placed at the binding zone to gather input from any stance width and pressure angles. Rider input is then channeled to the opposing contact point for maximum board control.

Pop Glass90° Carbon Fibers stitched in the glass provide extra pop, without adding extra stiffness. Ride's unique glass designs are flatter and more consistent; therefore they are stronger with no gaps or stretching as can be found in woven glass.

Sidewalls

Popwalls™ SidewallThis totally unique sidewall combines layers of Slimewalls® material and carbon strategically placed at the inserts out to the contact points in the tip and tail on a twin, and the back inserts to the contact points in the tail on a directional board. This exclusive tech enhances the charging riders' experience as Ride has moved the carbon pop construction to the outside edge for better stability and enhanced response.

Base

UL BaseLight and fast - pretty much the lightest base on the the market

Edges

UL SteelSame Rockwell hardness, built thinner and ultra light, but not lacking the die-hard Ride durability

Topsheet

Membrain® Top SheetWeighing less than half of traditional plastic top sheets, Membrain® maintains a smooth feel by infusing urethane into fabric. Along with pushing limits in the world of light weight, this process also allows Ride to push the boundaries when it comes to graphics by utilizing the textures and aesthetics associated with a variety of fabrics.

Comments about Ride Highlife UL Snowboard 2014:

I spent the better part of two years researching various freeride and aggressive all mountain boards to replace an old Rossi Jeremy Jones. My style: find the natural advanced/expert stuff (powder, chutes, steeps, trees, ridgelines, whatever) and do my best to leave my friends behind. No park, no pipe, and almost never ride switch. As conditions and visibility are often challenging, I rely on the board to communicate well and soak up any chop at speed, and it all usually pans out.

Immediate first impression: it really is fast, and very stable. It took several runs to dial in the bindings, then it was beautiful. This board likes to be pointed downhill, and then encourages you to just go for it. Big carves and fast chutes bring massive joy. Sharper turns take a little effort, as you'd expect for an aggressive all mountain bomber, but they aren't problematic if you know what you're doing. It takes natural hits and lands them with a nice stable feel. I had no problem navigating moguls, with the effort you'd expect to put in with a longer, stiffer board. Edge hold on ice was very good. It plowed through end of day chop like it wasn't there.

I wouldn't dare put a novice or intermediate on this board. You have to know what you're doing and know this is the kind of board you want. If so, then it will likely make you a very happy camper.

If you care, I'm 6'0", weight 165, and picked up a 164, paired with Flux SF45 bindings. A little long for my weight, but I like longer boards. A 161 probably would have been great too.

Comments about Ride Highlife UL Snowboard 2014:

I'm someone who likes to ride kinda fast, and do a lot of carving. I'm on the East Coast, USA. We got some good snow this year and I've been very happy with this board. It feels very light and precise when ripping and turning.

It just does what I want it to do, it's very responsive. I like to find areas near the sides of trails that act kinda like natural half and quarter pipes, where it's critical to be able to turn quickly and to be in tight control... I've also been getting more into carving on the open groomers, and getting so deep with some carves that I'm almost touching the ground half of the time. If you like to snowboard like I do: in a kind-of surfing style, you'd love this board.

I should mention that the top is kinda fragile and I scratched it up pretty fast. I think it's not a big deal but just letting you know, you should keep it in a board bag and be careful about other snowboarders banging around on the lift.

Comments about Ride Highlife UL Snowboard 2014:

I only head to the mountains when its snows. I primarily enjoy only powder days. This board does great! It is very stiff in the powder and allows you to carve and hold an edge whil moving at high speeds. I only buy RIDE products and I love this board. I am 5'11" and bought a 158. Works great!
