Never Summer SL Snowboard 2014

If versatility is what you're after, the 2014 Never Summer SL Snowboard is what you seek. NS modified their Custom Flight Core to reduce weight and increase pop. They've also added Carbon VXR Laminate Technology for powerful edge response and control. The lightweight RDS 2 Dampening System provides the perfect balance of freeride vibration and absorption and freestyle liveliness. Slightly setback for powder floatation but centered enough to spin, this is a one man army that excels on harpack, in the park, natural features and all around freeriding.
Rocker Type
Original Rocker & Camber Profile (RC) - Rocker underfoot for flotation, mobility, and a forgiving feel, plus camber extending from the outside of the mounting area to the transition area for superior edge hold and explosive pop. The transition area at the end of the camber extends to the effective edge keeping the board from pushing against the snow for effortless glide while making it less likely to catch an edge. RC delivers all the benefits of a rocker design with the spring, stability and edgehold of camber.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 5, medium flex good for pipe and park / freestyle riding
Shape
Directional Twin - Mount it twin or ride it directional. It does it all.
Vario Power Grip Sidecut - Multi-radius sidecut adds increased edgehold precisely where it's needed most, from 2 inches outside of each binding and inward toward the center of the board, providing added control and response in any conditions (Sidecut Radius numbers are an average).
Core
NS Custom Flightcore - is the most technically advanced core system they've ever used. These cores fuse premium hardwood and ultra light softwood laminates together with vertical layers of elastomeric vibration dampers. These lightweight perimeter dampers actually increase vibration absorption the faster you ride while maintaining an incredible amount of snap and liveliness, providing a level of edgehold and high speed performance that only a Never Summer snowboard can deliver.
Laminates
Bi-Lite Fiberglass - BI-LITE fiberglass combines many of the strength characteristics of STS ADVANCED fiberglass with an ultra light glass fiber matrix. This delivers incredible freestyle and freeride performance without sacrificing durability.
STS Pretensioned Fiberglass - The world's best snowboard fiberglass, period. STS ADVANCED FIBERGLASS is pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers between the 0 degree and 90 degree glass fibers the length of the effective edge. This produces a stronger bond between the individual glass laminates giving this snowboard unmatched strength, edge hold and performance.
Carbon VXR Laminate Technology - The CARBON VXR system is specifically designed for the SL, Legacy, Evo, Revolver and Infinity freestyle snowboards. Dual carbon v's help transfer more energy to the tip and tail without making these boards too stiff for buttering and presses. This is the most versatile Carbon system for those that prefer a freestyle feel to their board whether in the park or freeriding the mountain.
RDS 2 Damping System - This lightweight system uses three narrower laminated damping layers that provide the perfect combination of vibration absorption and stability. RDS 2 is specifically designed for the SL, Legacy and Infinity.
Sidewalls
Sintered P-Tex Sidewall - Unlike conventional ABS sidewalls, that have a tendency to crack in colder temperatures, SINTERED P-TEX SIDEWALLS maintain their integrity at any temperature.
P-Tex tip and tail protection
Base
Durasurf Sintered 4501 Base - Crown Plastics has been the industry leader in sintered materials for over 36 years and has created the DURASURF 4501 sintered base exclusively for Never Summer. This new high density base is extremely fast and will provide unmatched performance and durability.
Edges
Fully Wrapped Metal Edge - Provides unmatched carving ability and edge grip
Additional Features
Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers - Elastomeric Rubber Stabilizers directly below the mounting area provide optimum vibration absorption and increase high speed stability while reducing foot fatigue.
Binding Compatibility
Never Summer snowboards offer 2x4 insert patterns.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Freeride, Freestyle
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
    Freeride
Freeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
