Never Summer Revolver Snowboard 2012

Dirty Harry had a revolver and now, thanks to the Never Summer Revolver Snowboard, you can have one too. The Revolver is a wider version of the loved Never Summer Evo and is packed with loads of features that make this true twin board the ultimate freestyle machine. The Press Flex Core is forgiving and allows riders to manipulate the board for a fun and buttery ride. The EDS dampening system offers high-speed stability and shock absorption that is not normally found in park boards. All in all, the Never Summer Revolver is a must-have board for any serious freestyle rider.
Rocker Type
Never Summer’s award winning Rocker & Camber Design offers the fun that you want from rocker and the stability that you need from camber. This one-of-a-kind shape offers you superior power and snap out of turns as well as stability in parks, pow or groomers.
Flex
Flex rating: 4 (1 softest-10 stiffest) The Revolver’s flex allows riders to manipulate the board for a buttery fun and playful ride.
The EDS dampening system delivers increased edgehold and high speed stability without compromising the freestyle performance.
Construction and Core
Press Flex Core creates soft points between your feet giving you better hinge points for ultimate pressing and ollie power.
STS Pretensioned Fiberglass is pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers between the 0-90degree glass fibers the length of the effective edge. This produces a stronger bond, and thus a stronger board is better edge hold and performance.
Bi-Lite fiberglass has a ultra-light glass fiber matrix that delivers incredible freestyle and freeride performance without sacrificing durability.
Carbon VXR Laminate Technology has dual carbon v’s that help transfer more energy to the end of the effective edge, tip and tail without making the board too stiff for buttering and presses.
Shape
Vario Power Grip sidecut adds increased edge hold precisely where it’s needed most giving you added control and response in any condition
Sidewalls, Edges and Base
Sintered P-Tex Sidewall maintain their integrity at any temperature and are far more durable than ABS sidewalls
Full wrap metal edge gives you smooth carving
Durasurf Sintered 4501 base is a high density base that is both fast and durable

Specs

  • Effective Edge: 117mm (149), 120mm (152), 122mm (155), 125mm (158), 128mm (160)mm
  • Terrain: Freestyle
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.

      About the reviewer:

I am 35 years old and started snowboarding on a 155 True Twin 2008 Burton Blunt about 5 years ago. Some would say my skill level is Intermediate-to-Advanced. I was not a fan of the board due to the squirlyness at higher speeds. That is expected, though, when working with a beginner board. The very next season I purchased a 161 2007 Forum LRG directional twin with standard camber base. Love that board to this day. Its a great all mountain board that handles high speeds like a champ. The Forum was rated a flex rating of 6. Butters where near impossible (for me) and the pop was pretty good. I wanted to get a more park focused board that can handle high speeds and powder like an all mountain would. I did have bad problem with heel drag on the Forum and felt a wider board was the solution. This is what got me looking at the 152 Never Summer Revolver. I have only had full day riding the Never Summer Revolver. I will come back after getting more experience with the board in varrying conditions. The current review covers icey and 'soft' packed groomers after 1 full day on the slopes at Sugar Mountain, NC.

REVIEW: Packed groomers & Icey conditions

The 152 Never Summer Revolver feels much lighter than my old 161 Forum LRG. With a soft flex, I went from not being able to do any butters to holding them on the slopes for about 1-2 seconds. We're talking some serious flex here. I'm extremely satisified with the flex the Revolver offers for butters. So much easier to do. The Revolver uses a double camber technology that has camber-rocker-camber, which I was not used to. My first couple runs down the slopes was on very icey conditions and the board got pretty squirely at higher speeds without applying any edge. Once I dig in the toe or heel side, the board holds really good. This made it harder to pop ollies as I had to get used to the new feel. With a wider base than what I'm used too, it felt harder to do any spins at first. I was catching edges on my landings, although by the end of the day I was starting to ride away cleaner and cleaner. This board definitely gets some serious pop. My friends were telling me that I was getting more air than they have ever seen me get - that was on natural features, still no kickers on our slopes! About mid day the snow started to get a little softer in Sun. That's when the board felt it's best. I was carving, poping ollies, and sporting butters like I have never before.

So far, I love this new ride. I'll update my review once the park(s) open up and I get a good powder day.

*I would not recommend this board for free-riders or all mountain riders who may run into ice more often than pow or packed groomers.

Comments about Never Summer Revolver Snowboard 2012:

I'm a all mountain, speed junkie rider who wanted to get into some park riding. I'm 5'10, 165lbs, 10.5 boot size. I wanted to get the Evo 157, but it was all sold out. So I got the Revolver 155 instead. The cartel bindng looks great on this board. The first thing I noticed, the board is heavy. Talking to my buddy who has the Evo, also notice the same on his Evo. When riding, you don't notice the weight. My first impression riding the board was WOW, the edge hold is excellent! Even at high speed, I was able to carve easily through turns and the board was very stable, maybe because it's a wider board. The condition I rode was spring like weather. I have yet to ride in powder. The board is less flexy than I thought. This board is solid for all mountain riding, and still be able to hit the park.

Comments about Never Summer Revolver Snowboard 2012:

I really do like this board. I am a heavy rider compared to the normal guys doing buttering tricks. I do like the flex but on the other side I would wish to have more pop in the tip and tail. I did ride this board lot of the time switched and also switched bindings and I am still wondering whether it is a true real twin board even it is meant to be.

This board is great! I love it! Although it is a park board it shreds everything. The board is actually more flexy than i thought and it wrecks on rails and kickers. It also is pretty decent at carving and holds an edge pretty well. Plus this board is basically indestructible and comes with a 3 year warranty! Buy it now!
