Never Summer Raven Snowboard - Women's 2014

The 2014 Never Summer Raven Snowboard is the most tech, highest performance women's all mountain snowboard NS has made to date. Their NS Superlight Wood Core and Carbonium Laminate Technology have been engineered specifically for women who want a softer mid flex for torsional control but power underfoot for unmatched carve-ability. The Raven's shape features a more drawn out nose and quick tail allowing the board to plane over soft new snow in addition to blunt ends for superior maneuverability. Combine that with the NS exclusive Women's Carbonium Dampening System (WCDS) and you've got one of the smoothest, most stable rides on the market that will have you hollering 'Nevermore.'
Rocker Type
Original Rocker & Camber Profile (RC) - Rocker underfoot for flotation, mobility, and a forgiving feel, plus camber extending from the outside of the mounting area to the transition area for superior edge hold and explosive pop. The transition area at the end of the camber extends to the effective edge keeping the board from pushing against the snow for effortless glide while making it less likely to catch an edge. RC delivers all the benefits of a rocker design with the spring, stability and edgehold of camber.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 4, perfect mid flex
Shape
Directional Twin - Mount it twin or ride it directional. It does it all.
Vario Power Grip Sidecut - Multi-radius sidecut adds increased edgehold precisely where it's needed most, from 2 inches outside of each binding and inward toward the center of the board, providing added control and response in any conditions (Sidecut Radius numbers are an average).
Core
NS Superlight Wood Core - Taking their custom flight core even further, they've designed the SUPERLIGHT WOOD CORE specifically for the new Carbonium series which blends extremely light wood with durable hardwood for unmatched strength to weight ratio.
Laminates
Women's Carbonium Laminate Technology (WCLT) - WCLT has been designed specifically for the Carbonium Raven. Narrow Carbon stringers on the top and bottom of the wood core provide power and energy transfer without sacraficing the torsional control a lighter rider needs. Additional fiberglass strips reinforce the effective edge for hold and durability.
Bi-Lite Fiberglass - BI-LITE fiberglass combines many of the strength characteristics of STS ADVANCED fiberglass with an ultra light glass fiber matrix. This delivers incredible freestyle and freeride performance without sacrificing durability.
Sidewalls
Sintered P-Tex Sidewall - Unlike conventional ABS sidewalls, that have a tendency to crack in colder temperatures, SINTERED P-TEX SIDEWALLS maintain their integrity at any temperature.
P-Tex tip and tail protection
Women's Carbonium Dampening System (WCDS) - The WCDS is tailored for a female rider. Three elastomeric rubber foils around the perimeter of the board provide an optimum balance of high-speed stability and vibration absorption while maintaining and agile feel.
Base
Durasurf XT Sintered 5501 Base - Crown Plastics has developed an exclusive, super fast, durable sintered base specifically for the Carbonium Series. Just the right amount of graphite has been added making it the fastest base NS has ever used.
Edges
Fully Wrapped Metal Edge - Provides unmatched carving ability and edge grip
Topsheet
Carbonium Topsheet - A very durable, scratch and chip resistant material with a high tech carbon fiber like visual. This textured material also provides more grip than a gloss topsheet working as a built in stomp pad.
Additional Features
Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers - Elastomeric Rubber Stabilizers directly below the mounting area provide optimum vibration absorption and increase high speed stability while reducing foot fatigue.
Binding Compatibility
Never Summer snowboards offer 2x4 insert patterns.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Freeride, Freestyle, Powder
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
    Freeride
Freeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.
    Freestyle
Freestyle or park snowboards tend to be a bit shorter in length and love terrain parks, rails, jibs, trash cans, tree trunks, riding switch (non-dominant foot forward), wall rides and more. Freestyle boards often feature a true twin shape, and are typically selected by those looking to ride the terrain park. A more versatile variant of a freestyle board is the all-mountain freestyle, which combines the versatility of an all mountain snowboard with the playfulness of a freestyle snowboard.
    Powder
Powder snowboards love powder. Often associated with freeride snowboards, powder boards sometimes feature a wider nose and a tapered narrower tail. The binding inserts, which determine the rider's stance, are often set back on a powder snowboard to help the rider float the tip of the board through the deep stuff. Powder snowboards sometimes also feature rocker, a design element where the tip (and tail) rise starts farther back on the board, which also helps the rider maintain tip float through the pow.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
