Specs

  • Terrain: Freeride, Powder
    Freeride
Freeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.
    Powder
Powder snowboards love powder. Often associated with freeride snowboards, powder boards sometimes feature a wider nose and a tapered narrower tail. The binding inserts, which determine the rider's stance, are often set back on a powder snowboard to help the rider float the tip of the board through the deep stuff. Powder snowboards sometimes also feature rocker, a design element where the tip (and tail) rise starts farther back on the board, which also helps the rider maintain tip float through the pow.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Camber/Rocker/Camber
    Camber/Rocker/Camber
Camber/Rocker/Camber is a profile that’s specific to snowboards and which works because the rider’s weight flattens the two cambered areas. This design produces a strong, pressured carving zone between the rider’s feet and retains pop and carving precision at the tip and tail.

Comments about Never Summer Raptor Snowboard 2012:

This board is sick, very smooth through any snow, dirt, or water. The carbon fibers increase weight reduction while adding stiffness to the board in both the transverse and longitude directions. This board is tough as nails, comes with a three year warranty and cool top sheet laminate.

Comments about Never Summer Raptor Snowboard 2012:

I have ridden 2010 Never Summer Titan and 2011 Premier F1 and I loved the stability of the Titan and The maneuverbility and the liveliness of the Premier F1. So I bought this board hoping it has the ability to do what the other Two boards could do.The pictures online doesn't do this board justice. It's an amazing looking board. I'm dying to try this board the first chance I get.

This board absolutely rips. It is fast, stable yet playful, floats in powder almost like my Fish, and carves like a hot knife through butter. Perfect freeride board. Also, the workmanship is top notch. Highly recommended.

Comments about Never Summer Raptor Snowboard 2012:

I bought a 2012 Raptor 159 to replace my 2006 Ride Timeless 159, which I loved. The Timeless was very fast, damp and could plow through crud like a champ. When shopping for a new board, I was looking for something with these attributes that would also perform well in powder. I think the Raptor fits the bill. So far, I have only spent 3 days on it due to the lack of snow this year: 2 days of riding hard-pack in Kirkwood (surprisingly good manmade snow) and 20" of fresh at Sugarbowl. It has been a lot of fun so far. It's fast, nimble yet stable, and it holds an edge reliably. On powder, I think the Raptor floats as well as my Burton Fish, although you have to lean back a bit more. The only drawback so far: When the powder became heavy and rutted, the Raptor took some work to navigate. No big deal.

Other factors that influenced my decision: Never Summer hand-makes their boards in the USA, offers a 3-year warranty and has a great reputation for quality and durability. As expected, the board feels rock-solid.
