Lib Tech Cygnus X1 Enhanced BTX Snowboard 2013

Mervin Manufacturing delivers other-worldly performance with the limited production Lib Tech Cygnus X1 Enhanced BTX Snowboard. Hand made by Lib Tech founder Mike Olson in Sequim, Washington, this over-the-top example of tech excellence is for the rider whose desire to ride the best isn’t exactly earth-bound. The Cygnus features more tech than this database will allow to be displayed, like and exaggerated rocker between the feet for rock solid turns and grip when you need it, plus a shape that pressures the tip and tail slightly for end-to-end stability and pop.
Rocker Type
Enhanced Banana (!BTX!) - High rocker between the feet blended with a secret numerical formula of camber to the contact points focuses maximum pressure between your feet for magical turns and edge hold on ice and a mild amount of pressure to the tip and tail for end-to-end stability and pop while maintaining incredible float and catch-free freestyle.

Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 7
Shape
True Twin - A symmetrical shape for equally precise performance riding regular or switch
Core
Ultra-Light End Grain Eco Timbers (ULEGT) - Oriented top-to-bottom in the middle of the core for maximum strength and lightness
Sandwich Over Sandwich (SOS) Construction - The source of more mad energy and pop than you ever thought possible
Laminates
Magnesium Oxide Strands - Twice as strong as traditional fiberglass while being more environmentally friendly
Vectran Power Fibers - Arranged in a torsion "X" for corner-to-corner energy transmission at minimal weight, 26% lighter than carbon
Sidewalls
Seamless Self Healing Biopolymer Sidewalls (SSHBS) - Glow in the dark and repair themselves like the human body

Sintered 9991 Base - Tough, fast and holds wax like crazy
Edges
Magne-Traction™ - Serrated edges slice through the snow with 7 strategically located and sized bumps along each side of your sidecut giving you insane edge hold and precision control. The biggest bumps are at and between your feet where your balance is centered adding maximum control and power where you need it most. The bumps outside your feet are smaller and less aggressive providing tip and tail control but maintaining freestyle freedom.

Topsheet
Bio-Plastic Beans - A bio-plastic top skin made from beans that features the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any top sheet in the industry

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Freeride
    All-Mountain
All-mountain snowboards are designed for exploring the whole mountain. They are your go-to for a snowboard that will do anything. They feel at home on groomers, powder, park runs and almost anything in between. The vast majority of snowboarders choose all-mountain boards for their great versatility. If you’re just getting started or unsure of exactly what you need, an all-mountain snowboard is a great choice.
    Freeride
Freeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker
    Rocker
A rocker board side profile is the opposite of a camber board, with a smooth downward curvature to it and less edge contact length when the board is weighted. Rocker boards float well in powder and pivot more easily underfoot. They also tend to be less “hooky” at both tip and tail and better for landing spin maneuvers when you don’t quite have enough rotation.
  • Flex Rating: Stiff
    Stiff
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
