Product Info

The Jones Explorer Snowboard fuses exemplary freestyle chops with classic backcountry powder manners, and in so doing defies easy categorization. Freestyle? Freeride? Pow? Yes, in fact the Explorer does it all well. If that sounds like your type of riding - equal parts all-mountain and park, with a big dose of pow hunting thrown in - the Explorer may just be the right ride for you.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Directional RockerCamber underfoot with a long, gradual tip rocker and slight tail rocker. The rockered nose helps float in powder and improves maneuverability, while camber underfoot aids edgehold. Mild tail rocker lets you choose the turn shape that fits the occasion.

Flex

Flex Rating: 6 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff)Medium flex unlocks easy buttering while continually supporting heavy riding and large landings.

Shape

Directional Shape

"Pointy" Blunt Nose"How a board glides in powder, crust, corn, or any snow condition more then an inch deep is dictated by its front contact point and just past it. Next time you are in soft snow, watch how much snow comes over the corner of the nose near the contact point. The billowing snow means you are plowing through it which is obviously slowing you down. By adding a blunt nose, you get the float benefits of a much longer board tip without the added length or swing weight." - Jeremy Jones

Progressive SidecutAt the far ends of the sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually decreasing the side cut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.

Core

Jones Classic CoreLaminated, multi-density core of select hardwoods for performance and durability.

Laminates

Fiberglass ReinforcementA new lightweight layer of fiberglass not only adds to the pop in the nose and tail of the board but improves the longevity of the flex profile.

Biax FiberglassBiax laminate consists of fiberglass that is braided in two directions. The fibers are braided vertically at 90 degrees. This ensures a torsional flex that is more evenly distributed throughout the snowboard. For you, this translates to a snowboard that is easy to handle and jib friendly.

Sidewalls

Recycled ABS SidewallsJones is in it for the long haul, and with sustainability in mind they use only recycled plastic for their sidewalls.

Base

Sintered 7000 Series BaseSintered bases contain tiny pores in the structure that hold wax better and result in the fastest running surface known to humankind; Jones' 7000 series bases have added carbon to add speed.

Die-Cut BaseBase color displayed may not be available. Base colors may vary.

Edges

Mellow Magne-Traction™A tiny wave in the edge under your feet results in a catch-free ride with bomber edgehold on any snow surface. "Magne-Traction™ is a key ingredient for rockered board designs. Adding rocker to your board makes it glide more smoothly, but it makes it harder to really lock into your turns and hold a solid edge. Magne-Traction™ is crucial to offset the drift typical of rocker flex patterns." - Jeremy Jones.

Oversized Recycled EdgesRecycled, thicker steel reinforces the snowboard's edges to give you exceptional impact resistance and improved production sustainability.

Topsheet

Film TopsheetNew film topsheet adds to consistent response and drops weight at the same time.
