A killer construction and a killer board - perfect for a snowboarder like you. The GNU Altered Genetics C2BTX Snowboard combines the best construction elements out there for your pleasure. Built with a wood core that blends Aspen, Bamboo and Balsa for unbelievable pop, it is ready to take one whatever you’re dishing out. The wood core, plus stiffer flex and C2BTX Banana Rocker makes the GNU Altered Genetics C2 BTX Snowboard the ultimate freestyle and freeride board.
Rocker Type
C2 Power Banana Camber Technology (C2BTX) - Banana rocker between your feet, radial camber to contact points. This focuses pressure between your feet for easy turns, great edge hold on ice and max pressure to the tips and tails for power end-to-end stability, pop and max control in critical situations.
Flex
Flex Rating (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - 7, A stiffer board for those who shred the whole hill like it’s nobody’s business.
Construction and Core
The Mervin Altered Genetic Wood Core combines the best properties of Aspen (light/strong), Balsa (super-light), and Bamboo (high flex strength/fast growing) to provide unbelievable pop
Bio Beans is a new earth-friendly Bio-plastic topsheet made from castor beans; with a high strength to weight ratio Bio Beans is eco-friendly and strong.
Shape
Directional Twin - Longer tip than tail combined with a centered radial sidecut. Rides great in both directions. Focus is on all-mountain freestyle freeriding, excels in powder, nose floats and shorter tail reduces surface area for added deep snow control.
Core
AG3 Sustainable Woodcore - Altered genetic wood combines the best properties of Balsa (superlight) and Bamboo (high flex strength and fast growing) and Aspen (light/strong) to create the world's greatest core.
Laminates
Quasi-Isotropic Vectran Fiberglass - 4-way fiber orientation 0/45/45/90. Triaxial and biaxial glass combo for max pop and control. Vectran liquid crystal polymer was developed as the fiber foundation for inter-planetary Mars lander tires and has 10 times the strength of titanium.
Sidewalls
EISS 9 UHMW Sidewalls - Tough UHMW sidewalls on the exterior laminated to 9 layers of endgrain birch on the inside. Bombproof and gives the board massive pop. Good on rails.
Base
Sintered 9900 Alloy - Continuous compression formed for molecular elongation, preserving its amorphous polymer structure, for maximum wax absorption, and durability: It's tough and fast.
Edges
Magne-Traction™ - Gives better edge hold and makes for an easier ride. Serrated edges cut into the snow like a knife giving you more edge hold and control than ever before. Magne-Traction™ features 7 strategically located and sized bumps along each side of your sidecut.
Topsheet
Bio-Polymer - A bio-plastic top skin made from beans that features the highest strength-to-weight ration of any top sheet in the industry.

Comments about GNU Altered Genetics C2BTX Snowboard 2012:

Just had this board out once this spring but was quite impressed overall. It's the stiffest rated flex in the GNU line (7 of 10), but I didn't find it to be as stiff as I was expecting. However, note that I'm coming off an 8 year old Option Signature, which was customized by myself in the factory to be even stiffer (extra carbon fibre strips in the tail). That said, overall this AG handled great. I would recommend this model to the intermediate/ advanced to expert, all-mountain freerider. I found the base was super fast and overall the board is responsive and light. The magna-traction is a cool added touch as well, but not so pronounced when riding that you notice a massive difference (that is over traditional edging). What I'm really looking forward to is testing it in deeper snow next season as that's where I expected it to shine - being banana-tech. Also the double camber (C2 BTX) provides a good overall balance to the reverse camber, allowing more stability at higher speeds, great edge to edge response, and quite a bit of pop.. which is noticable for an advanced to expert rider that really likes to charge. I find the straight banana (no camber at all), or even the new EC2 BTX from Mervin to be a litte bit too suirrelly underfoot and just not up to par for really railing turns and aggresive charging. From Mervin, this board is comparable to the Lib Tech Dark series if your looking at the two, just not as many bells and whistles... but still a high quality freeride machine. Anyways, that's just my opinion! but I have been on the snow for 25 years and couting.. Thanks

Comments about GNU Altered Genetics C2BTX Snowboard 2012:

Amazing board. There is nothing I did not like about it. I felt like I was a better snowboarder after I strapped this one under my boots. The magna-traction really does catch a bit better on the ice. It is light enough to be great in the park but I have the 162 so I did not list that under best uses. Take this with a grain of salt because I've only ridden about 6 boards, but this one is BY FAR my favorite.

          2012 GNU ALTERED GENETICS 159

Comments about GNU Altered Genetics C2BTX Snowboard 2012:

This is the only Mervin board I have ever rode that I did not dig. I found it to thin, light, and rockered to feel sturdy for me. Not stable at high speeds and it was also very hard to skate for me for some reason. Maybe I just had to much food for lunch!
