Twin flex is perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail for a balanced ride that’s equally versatile regular or switch, frontside or backside. Triax fiberglass provides versatile flex and response for everything from mini to mega shred. The camber is an advocate of powerful turns and poppy precision, and camber speaks to the core values of board design. Acting like a suspension, camber creates a lively ride capable of slicing and stomping the entire mountain.
Construction and Core
The Dragonfly Core incorporates over 500 independent laminations, each individually oriented within the core to create the lightest, strongest, and liveliest wood core. The positive core profile means it’s thicker between the bindings, thinner towards the nose and tail, so it drives you through a turn, increasing power and edge-hold. Vaporskin is a minimized, carbon-based topsheet membrane that drops weight while magnifying board feel and snap, allowing you to navigate through terrain with newfound intuition. Pro-Tip is a tapered tip and tail thickness that reduces swing weight for easier mobility and float.
Base
Lightning Bolts: Radiating outward from beneath your feet, these energy transfer strands send input from brain to edge in the blink of an eye, translating thoughts into actions with effortless precision. For 2011 it is woven into the fiberglass both above and below the board’s core for dual-drive power and response. The Carbon I-Beam is an ultra-light carbon backbone that increases pop and longitudinal snap. Sintered WFO Base: Infusing a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra absorbent, high-density sintered material results in an ultra-durable base that stays Wide F!#@ing Open all season in any condition.
Sidewalls and Edges
With multizone EGD™ the wood grain is perpendicular to the core adjacent to the channel – the area from which a rider’s power emanates – to enhance carving precision, response, and durability. The standard for slicing and dicing the entire mountain, Grip & Rip Edge Tune combines with Frostbite Edges where the edges beneath your bindings extend out slightly for tremendous edge-hold on hard, icy conditions. Powerful when you need them, playful when you don’t, Frostbite Edges are hungry for hard-pack while remaining ever forgiving in softer conditions. A 28° profile creates a classic, consistent edge-hold that cuts like a knife.
