Bataleon Goliath Snowboard 2011: Snowboarding can mean different strokes for different folks, but all agree that this board is a true do it all shred machine. Whether you are just hitting some jibs, lapping the park, dropping into your favorite backcountry line or laying down the meanest carves on your way to the lift, it’s all good…very good actually. This isn’t one of those boards that will take you for a ride; she will treat you well and be submissive and obedient to your demands.
Flex
Flex rating: 5 (1 Soft-10 Stiff) The FREESTYLE TBT is the most all-around Triple base shape that will improve your riding in any kind of terrain. With all the advantages of Triple Base Technology, this shape is especially optimized for freestyle with fast and easy edge to edge hold.
Construction and Core
Impact zones, the good wood core, and poplar birch have sidecut active hardwood enforcement along the sidewall as well as extra reinforced impact zones in the binding areas. Tri-ax laminates over the wood core with Bi-ax under the core creates an easy flex with lots of feel.
Base
The Synthduded 2555 base is a bit faster than the extruded version and is easy to fix.
Sidewalls and Edges
All Bataleon boards leave the factory with a hand tuned custom stone grind finish.

Comments about Bataleon Goliath Snowboard 2011:

*Bataleon Goliath 153*

This is obviously my first Triple-Base board ever. I went on EVO to check out the sale they had, and there was a choice of the Fun Kink or the Goliath. I loved the Fun Kink "Rocker" graphics, but I wasn't interested in another twin shaped deck. I had enough of those. Instead, the Goliath specs and board type was just about right for me. It had a super narrow waist, an all-around freestyle design with a slight setback stance (perfect for me). I don't really hang out in the park but I definitely go on groomers and do all-mountain riding.

For reference, I am 5'9" & 150 lbs and wore size 8 US boots. I had Salomon Arcade bindings at the time I was riding this board. I'm planning on putting Flux's on next year.

I went on Youtube and read that people took at least 2-3 runs before they got used to Bataleon's Triple Base technology. Right off the get go I no problems getting used to it. The Triple Base did not necessarily feel distinctive in any way other than the fact that the edges were super forgiving on not getting caught. Every time I did a heelside stop it was like gliding on a smooth edge. No catches whatsoever. The same was when I bombed down the hills going straight; no edge catches at all.

The flex on this board is too stiff for buttering, but its overall flex was good enough to do very nice ollies. The base on the other hand, was noticeably slower than an all-sintered base. Thankfully it was not slower than the base on my Gnu Park Pickle, which was super slow and gimmicky.

I bought this board because for the longest time I wanted to try Bataleon's Triple Base. I also bought this because Bataleon's in general were so expensive, that if it wasn't for EVO's sale I would've never had the chance commit to such a nice price. I have over 6 boards right now and I am keeping the Goliath permanently.

In the end, this board is ridiculously easy to ride on. It's a great all-around board. I just wish the base was faster. Love the graphics.
