I finally got a new pair of boots after riding for 7 years (teaching a full season in my former Vans World Travelers that I have owned for 6 years). I was watching the market for these Contras since last season, admiring the black, sharp leather look. I used them at Mammoth 2 weeks ago and after 3 hours of riding, got horrible altitude sickness, so that was it for me the rest of the weekend. :o(

in any case, i am a Vans lover, and the only thing i really have to complain about in the 3 hours of riding is that i got a slight bruise from where the bottom of my leggings (underneath my boardpants) were bunched up at my ankle. due to the tight fit of the boot, i ended up bruising a bit from the pressure of the boot against the bunched up leggings. Other than that, i can't wait to try them out and test them in true riding fashion. My style is basically speeding downhill, a few jumps here and there, but nothing big. I haven't done half pipe in over 4 years, but this boot is so stiff, I am not sure how it would do in the pipe. the boot i purchased is a 7.5, and after i ride it again, i will let you know how that fit really works for me. my normal size shoe is a 7.5, but my last pair of boots were smaller. due to the lacing system (the BOA which i am not yet used to), i think i tightened too much, causing some numbness in my right foot.

great responsive boot. Got 2002 model and decided to go with the same this year. Why shoot for something else if I was 100% satisfied?
