I just started snowboarding this past winter, first day on the mountain I got hooked. I went out and bought these so I didn't have to rent boots while I was still testing out different types of boards, and the difference between these and the 2 different rental boots I had tried (including a k2 raider boa, and another one of burton's boots that I can't recall) was drastic. In the k2 boots the lean was ridiculous, the only way walking was comfortable was on an incline, although once I strapped into the board it wasn't that bad, I just had permanently bent knees for the day. The other burton rentals were really comfortable but the had standard shoe laces, and my feet were soaked at the end of the day. but these are much closer to regular shoes, VERY comfortable in comparison, my feet were dry and actually at the end of my lift ride the boots appeared dry outside. it did take a few days to dry the boots thoroughly, but that's to be expected when directing a fan at them lol I plan on getting a higher end boot this upcoming season, and when I do i'll write again to compare (if i remember.)I wear a size 11 Jordan, a size 12 Van, and a size 12 snowboard boot, so it's true to size if you lean more towards skate shoes, but if you wear mainly basketball shoes or Nike shoes like me take it a full size up.The only thing I don't like about the boots is while you're walking they squeak. But that's not a big deal since they're not walking shoes, definitely a solid snowboarding boot. I paid [$] for them so they're not too expensive. I would definitely recommend them to another rider looking for a boot to start with.

I ride 60-100 times a year, finding good solid gear is tough. We all think different of Burton's mass popularity, but I say "don't fix it, if it ain't broken!" These boots are light, solidly constructed, semi-stiff and seem like I'm going love them. Can't wait to use them splitboarding, they seem really nice to walk in. I usually rock a size 10 normally wearing a 10.5-11 shoe. I bought a 9.5 in this boot hoping to illuminate heel movement, and to feel better connected to my ride.

Comments about Burton Ruler Snowboard Boots 2012:

When I first tried them on at home they had a huge pressure point on top of my feet. This was just by wearing them too. I figured it'll be better when I got on the mountains but when I wore them for the first time snowboarding, I was in a lot of pain, poor circulation, etc.

The second time wasn't as bad but my feet still had poor circulation. After a couple more hours, the boots seem to have molded to my feet better and I was able to tighten them to stop getting heel lift.

I think these boots take a while to mold to your feet so after a few more snowboarding sessions, I think I would really like them. One thing I really dislike about these boots are the lack of adjustability. I know that they have dual zone laces but I think my next pair of boots would have the traditional laces. It was really painful for me my first session with these boots because whenever I wanted to loosen the area around my shin for better circulation, it would also loosen my area around my ankle and give me heel lift.

Tldr; These boots was painful for me to wear my first two snowboarding sessions but they're starting to get more comfortable. I think that's snowboarding boots in general though.

The boa system is convenient for tightning and loosening the laces quickly but it tightens equally around the ankle and the foot and isnt easily adjusted seperately.
