Burton Hail Snowboard Boots 2013

Hail: for once you will have a good association with this word, rather than the memory of running for your life because ice bullets were being shot from the sky and pelting you in the face...not fun. Praise the Burton Hail Snowboard Boots, for they will give you nothing but good memories. They feature a soft yet supportive design in addition to their fluid motion of a tweaked articulating cuff, plus the combined cushioning of an over-sized airbag with an ultra cushy footbed. If all those good attributes were not enough for you, these boots also come with a Flex Liner that unlocks medial/lateral movement for a more natural feel, while the puft-up tongue enhances comfort, and softens the pressure of tightly cranked straps and tightly cranked tweaks.
Flex
Flex Rating: 4 (1 Soft - 10 Stiff) - Great for all-day comfort and performance
Flex Notches - These strategically placed flex notches allow for smoother, more fluid lateral and medial flex, perfect for pressing and tweaking.
Flex Spine Backstays - Get effortless medial and lateral mobility with ample edge-to-edge support when it's time to throw down the landing gear.
Lightweight Power Panels - To ensure consistent flex from day 1 to 100, this boot features strategically placed Power Panels that return to their original position even after being deeply flexed.
Fit
Stay-Puft Tongue Construction - Tuck that knee and tweak it with the smoother forward motion and cush comfort of this progressive flexing upper tongue construction.
Articulating Cuff - Allowing the upper and lower zones of the boot to flex independently creates fluid forward motion, minimizes shell distortion, and maximizes heel hold and response.
Focus Cuff - Boosting heel-hold by hugging that sweet spot around your ankle, the Focus Cuff rides slightly higher on your ankle for increased response.
Shrinkage™ Footprint Reduction Technology - This reduces the boot's overall footprint one size, meaning a men's size 10 fits like a size 10, but has the footprint of a typical size 9. Shorter, lighter, and sleeker means that you will never have to suffer from toe drag again.
VELCRO® Brand Fastener J-Bar Interface - This interface is located in the heel pocket for added support.
Total Comfort Construction - An instantly broken-in feel right out of the box
Liner
Imprint™ 3 Liner
Heat Moldable - Whether you have funky cankles or a grotesque sixth toe, your feet will be wrapped with comfort in this boot. Ride them right out of the box or shape them to your foot with Burton's EMU heat-molding system, found at your local shop.
Rad Pad - This cushioning is located on the top of your instep, right where the liner laces exert the most pressure. These pre-curved panels keep your feet stoked and secure.
Inner Lace Lock - Quick-lock design keeps your heels locked down all day. Exit's a cinch with the one-handed release tab.
Sock Lock - This directional fiber lining allows your feet to easily slide into place and stay in place all day.
VELCRO® Brand Fastener Liner Closure - This secures the liner in place around your foot. J-Bar adjustable heel system slides into the heel pocket for added support.
Lacing System
Traditional with Two-to-One Lower Zone Lacing
Footbed
Level 2 Molded EVA Footbed with ESS Support Shank
Aegis™ Antimicrobial Coating - Inhibits foul odors
Sole
Holy Shit Outsole - This revolutionary cushioning combines support, response, and canted comfort in amazing ways. A primary midsole promotes toe-to-heel response, support, and cushioning. Beneath that, the secondary, AutoCANT Cushioning dual-density EVA midsole uses denser EVA laterally for support, and a softer, more cushioned EVA medially to allow your foot to roll naturally, reducing stress on your joints and ligaments.
Additional Features
Snow-Proof Internal Gusset - Features internal gusset construction to completely seal the lower zone of the boot, keeping feet warm and dry

  • Ability Level: Beginner-Intermediate
    Beginner-Intermediate
Someone who is new to the sport or working on linking smoother turns falls into this ability level. Typical beginner ski/snowboard qualities include: softer materials, narrower widths, and capped constructions. The idea is to create a ride that is easy to turn and very forgiving in case you become off balance or fall in the back seat. The addition of rocker in the tip and tail gives a catch-free feeling and shorter contact length when the ski/snowboard is flat on the snow, making it easier to turn.
  • Flex Rating: Medium
    Medium
The amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
