Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings 2011 – The Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings represent the past, present and future of Flow bindings. More responsive than the Trilogy, the Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings boast Flow’s fiber reinforced Nylon H-Series baseplate, movable toe-ramps with EVA cushioning pads for setting down big tricks and absorbing chatter. The fiber reinforced Nylon ventilated highbacks had flared bottom edges to make entry and exit as smooth as can be, and the I-Flex PowerStrap technology seals the deal. Wanna ride more? Wanna progress faster? You can, with the Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings.
Baseplates
Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings feature a slightly softer 15% Nylon H-Series baseplate that eliminates bumps on the groomers.
Straps
Flex Rating: 3 (1 Soft – 5 Stiff)
The I-Flex PowerStrap has deep side cutouts that provide ideal flex for freestylers and all-mountain riders. The I-Flex works with all boot and board types and comes with a 3-D molded contour in your critical instep area, maintaining a direct force path from binding to boot to board for powerful toeside turns. The 4 locking Aluminum Airframe MINIratchet buckles and low-friction ladder guides provide total control and support.
Highbacks
The 15% Glass-filed Nylon Ventilated Hiback features an integrated backflare at the lower edge which eliminates any risk of the highback catching on a protruding boot heel, and also serves to stiffen the overall highback structure through the enhanced 3D shaping.
Additional Features
A movable toe-ramp with EVA cushioning pads allows optimized boot to board energy transfer and amazing foot support and Free+ Snaplock delivers a tool-less infinitely fine forward-lean adjustment that you can crank up or down without even getting out of your bindings.
Flow Binding Technology
As with all Flow bindings, Flow technology combines their original reclining highback for the easiest entry in all conditions that’s ergonomically designed to match your legs’ biomechanics. Hiback Flare eliminates any catching of the highback on the heel of the boot while the one piece 3D Powerstrap evenly distributes pressure over a wider boot surface, automatically adapting to every boot shape and foot type with more power advantage in toeside turns. The patented Power Triangle links the highback directly to the center area of the baseplate with a high-tension steel cable, creating a structurally powerful and very responsive triangular geometry that results in more control with no energy loss and less weight.

I've been riding since the winter of 88-89 and have always ridden traditional strap in bindings. This year I decided it was time to get a new board and pair of bindings and I was willing to try something completely new. I switched to a reverse camber board for the first time, and went w/ the Flow The Five bindings. I live in Michigan and ride mostly harder packed snow and spend half of my time in the park and the other half looking for natural hits. When I decided to go w/ Flows I read a LOT online about getting my bindings adjusted properly before I hit the hill. I had to make literally a one click per ratchet adjustment after riding most of the day as the bindings must have flexed and stretched from their first use. Since then they have been the coolest binding I've ever owned, and I've owned 10 pairs in the last 20+ years. I would totally recommend these to ANYONE at ANY riding level. Just one recommendation...RESEARCH how to set them up so that when you get to the hill you can just step in, flip up the lock and ride!

If I had to say anything negative about them it is that now I WAIT for my buddies to finish strapping in at the top....Either that or I ride solo because I got sick of waiting while they, click, click, click their ratchets.

Oh, and here in the Mid-west? Every second riding counts on these little hills and short season.

Not so easy to enter and not so easy to exit. I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong but it was difficult to slip your boot into binding deep enough to lock it. I played with the adjustment of the power strap all day but with no results. Another thing, the steel cable is so stiff that brings the back up even when the binding is open. You actually have to use your hand to lower the high back and then slip your boot in. Plastic lock levers are painted chrome It peeled off after ONE day of use. I wanted to buy K2 cinch but I got these because really low price. Mistake. I'm switching to Cinch. In K2 Cinch I liked the idea, when you unlock the back it also releases the main strap.

Comments about Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings 2011:

Once I figured out the correct first fit, I love these things. Being a 45 year old, it was nice not having to sit in the snow and buckle up. I can start down the hill faster than the others around me. Just keep your thumbs out of the way when you snap up the back lock, that was a self correcting issue and all my fault. Yes that nail will grow back...Seriously, buy these.

No more sitting in the snow getting a cold butt to gear up! While standing Kick your foot in and in one move you're locked in & you're off and riding or waiting for your friends to crank themselves into regular bindings. It took me two days of riding to get used to them and adjusted just right. Now i totally love how easy they are to use!

Comments about Flow The Five Snowboard Bindings 2011:

I bought these bindings to replace my K2 bindings that were a couple years old and were beginning to fall apart. I was hesitant to try a new style of binding since I have never had much of an issue with the traditional strap-in bindings; however, I have zero regrets since I did. The bindings have easy and effective adjustments and hold your foot securely while not cutting off your circulation like the others. I can pop in and out of these in no time and they look great on my Burton board (if you have a new Burton with the channel system, you will have to buy and adapter plate). I haven't had an issues with these bindings, and in the future will always buy the flow bindings.
