Comments about Flow Micron Snowboard Bindings - Kid's 2014:

I got 2 sets of these last season. My kids were 4 and 6 at the time… now 5 and 7.
These work really really well for my kids. I was able to adjust these so my kids could both get in and out of them with not too much trouble. At first my 4 year old would fall over a lot and my 6 year old would fall over sometimes trying to get out. When the binding snapped open they were not used to it and the force would make them lose balance.

Also getting in has a bit of a learning curve at first. It took a bit of training for my 4 year old to cram his foot all the way forward before trying to close the binding. With the foot forward the Microns can snap closed easily. Sometimes my younger child would need help, but it was easy for me to clear some snow and snap the binding closed standing up.

Now that both kids are a year older there is little trouble for them to get in and out. They do need a rather flat area which we have here at all the resorts in Michigan. I have been to some others where getting into flows could require a bit more practice. Some bigger alpine areas with steeper pitches might need a bit of experience for the kids to work these easily.

The other option is to flip on all 4's and clamp the back while kneeling.

Note that in order for kids to get the bindings on they need the bindings to be much looser in adult terms. Kids don't have the strength to really lock them down. But if you think about it, such force is not necessary to keep a binding tight and clamped for a 4 or 6 year old. They are tiny and they don't torque on bindings like a big person will, so I think it is appropriate to make the bindings easy for them to get in and out of.

My kids can turn very quickly and at will. They seem to have really good control. Enough said.

These bindings are a gift when the runs are so short as they are here in the Midwest. Basically you spend the entire day rushing up and down the hill because the runs are tiny compared to the west. It is nice not having to sit in the snow and adjust the bindings at the top each time.

Personally, I am now comfortable with my flows just drifting off the lift and kicking my foot in, flipping the clamp up and continuing to ride right down the hill without stopping. My oldest child is right at the cusp of being able to do this each time as well at age 7.

One important thing to be aware of is these bindings are really for those with size 3 or less foot. My 7 year old is wearing 2 1/2 size boots and larger boots might start to present a problem. At 8 we will need a different binding.

I wish there was a micron Jr. for kids with size 3-6 to keep things inexpensive.

Comments about Flow Micron Snowboard Bindings - Kid's 2014:

I got these bindings for my 5 year old who is somewhat small in stature. The design of these are pretty standard for Flow Bindings. Basically there is nothing tricky about them because they are designed for smaller riders who will likely grow out of them in a year or two. That being said My 5 year old was able to quickly and easily get in and out of these which is pretty much all I can ask for out of a smaller piece of hardware.
