  • Ability Level: Beginner-Intermediate
    Beginner-Intermediate
Someone who is new to the sport or working on linking smoother turns falls into this ability level. Typical beginner ski/snowboard qualities include: softer materials, narrower widths, and capped constructions. The idea is to create a ride that is easy to turn and very forgiving in case you become off balance or fall in the back seat. The addition of rocker in the tip and tail gives a catch-free feeling and shorter contact length when the ski/snowboard is flat on the snow, making it easier to turn.

Comments about Burton Grom Snowboard Bindings - Youth 2012:

I bought these for my seven year old daughter. The bindings are very easy to get in and out of and with only one buckle, she can do it herself. They seem to be pretty comfortable for her.

My biggest issue with these is that they are really designed to be used with the Burton 3-hole mount. They come with one dual-use disk that can mount on 3D (Burton) or 4x4 (standard) boards. If you use them with a Burton board, you have several mounting options to center the boot on the board, but if you use a standard (non-Burton) board, there is only one mounting option with no adjustability. For my daughter this means that her heels are over the edge, but her toes do not even reach the edge of the board, making it VERY hard for her to get toe side. For a binding that's supposed to fit a fairly wide range of kids boot sizes, this is unfortunate. I'm not a fan of proprietary gear (looking at you Jake...). So if you're planning to use these with an all Burton setup, they'd be fine, but if not get something else.
