Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

Smooth and playful, but aggro when you need it. New straps this year are a big upgrade too. Sure they look a little strange, but this is one of those situations where you DEFINITELY don't want to knock it before you try it. They engage faster, ratchet smoothly and the ride is top notch. EST for the Channel or ReFlex for your 4-bolters, this is my new go-to. Think of it like Car2Go (a preferred method of travel for many) but if they were all Ducati 899 Panigale's instead of Smart Cars

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

The Genesis is a binding that is really trying to raise the bar, and in some aspects it did so. The highback has a two piece cushion that essentially allows you to move a little against your binding instead of the original rigid back. The straps and ratchets are pretty crazy also; the ratchet has a new system that claims to lock better and tighten faster, and well it's no lie. These are a great binding, something you should try out if you are looking for new, fun technology. Being 6'1" with a size 10.5 foot the large worked great, and gave me control whenever I needed it.

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

Haven't used these yet but initial impressions are nothing but positive during adjustment and install. I wear a mens size 8 boot so I ordered a small size to be on the upper end of the size adjustment rather than the lower end with a medium. I still have another hole or two to let it out, so it will accommodate an 8.5 or even a 9.5, IF... it is a lower profile boot such as mine. (Ride- HyPhy).

The base has an adjustable expandable foot pad called the gas pedal. Not exactly sure if it is a special feature to make your toe-side more responsive or simply an adjustment for a boot sized on the upper end of it's size range.

I suppose these are meant to be sold specifically through retail as the instructions were minimal yet adequate for an experienced equipment owner. A total DIY beginner may find the assembly illustrations a bit cryptic.

A more complete manual would have included what the adjustment positions are intended for and why it should be adjusted that way for the type of riding you expect to do.

I am expecting to get many seasons out of this and if durability holds out, I will!

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

These bindings are the most comfortable binding I have ever used. They are better than my flows and more comfortable than my buddies cartels. The flex on them is great! Very stiff toe to heel and playful (but not excessively so) tip to tail. Just perfection. I was a little worried because I typically like a stiffer binding but I didn't mind the playful feel at all.

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

Bought a pair this season, and after three days I'm not impressed with the new strap system. The toe caps are constantly coming loose half way through a run, and the uppers don't hold snug either.

One of the guys at the local shop had had the same problem with his own pair and swapped out the ratchet system to the old style Burton ones. We talked to the local Burton rep and he suggested I try another replacement set of straps and the shop ordered them in.

Otherwise, they are light and comfortable bindings.

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

If i had to label my riding style I'd go with all mountain free style. I like to ride hard and fast.

Paired these up with the custom x last season.
First of all the fit was terrible. Wearing 10.5 Kaiju so I went with the Large (10+ according to Burton). Even on the smallest setting my bukles are hitting the board.

Secondly the bindings are way to flimsy to be paired up with a custom x as they suggested last season. Unable to take advanage of the monster pop and responsiveness that this board has to offer.

Thirdly, the "hammock" on the highback is just another stupid gimmick. It actually robs you of responsiveness on your heal edge all in the name of "being comfy". As a matter a fact this whole need for your feet to be "oh so comfy and cozy" with absolutey no pressure points while you ride has gone way too far. What's next, Burton manicures for the après-ski? Get a grip! Just strap in, suck it up and ride. Your feet will get a break in 5 mins when you hit the chair!

Anyways, needless to say I ended pawning these off on craigslist at a huge loss. Picked up a pair of the Diodes in medium for this season. They're a little hard on the feet after a full peak-to-creek power lap but they rip snot! They do what they're told, they lay the power down into the board and they don't ask stupid questions. My feet dont feel like ooey gooey marshmallows floating on pink puppy clouds but thats not the point.

So do yourself a favor, spend the extra $$$ and snag yourself a pair man diodes. You won't regret it.

I swore by Burton Cartels and never thought I'd ride anything else. Then came the Genesis. Game over. Who knew so much power and comfort could live together in one binding. No sacrifices, just pure all mountain snowboarding!

Comments about Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings 2014:

I've always been a "tech" guy and love it when companies create techy product that actually works. The Genesis is one of those products. I rode a friends pair of last year's Genesis and was very, very impressed. Regrettably, I didn't buy myself a pair but luckily I saw the newest Genesis on evo.com and, whammy, the new straps and buckles sealed the deal. They are absolutely brilliant. Highly Recommended, don't be afraid to buy product from the original snowboard brand that is still owned and operated by snowboarders.
