Product Info

Similar to the adult Shiro, the Volkl Shiro Jr Skis feature Extended Low Profile Rocker and a full wood core with vertical sidewall construction. It is designed for young skiers who want to ski big-mountain, powder conditions. As soon as your budding pro gets on the Shiro Jr’s, he’ll begin to crave that crystal.

Product Details

Shape

Full Rocker imbues the ski with a smooth, gradual bend from tip to tail, with matching sidecut and flex. The Extended Low Profile (ELP) gives the skier all the benefits of added maneuverability in soft snow while also delivering smooth, graceful arcs on groomed terrain. By matching the flex and sidecut with the full rocker profile, the skier gains full, uninterrupted edge contact. The more you put the ski on edge, the more effective the edge becomes. The resulting smoothness and predictability is truly uncanny.

Construction

Multi Layer Wood

Power Construction is Volkl’s longest running construction. It utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. Used in racing skis as well as freeskiing models, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip and a smooth ride.

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Comments about Volkl Shiro Jr Skis - Youth 2013:

I love the Volkl shiro. i have in the 163 length.
while i do have the 2012 version nothing has changed except the graphics. This is NOT a playful ski, it is meant for going fast and getting air. It holds it's edge on groomers but hates ice. It is super fun in powder. It also hates moguls. Do to it being stiff it will buck you around on the moguls. On everything else though it is an AWESOME ski.

Comments about Volkl Shiro Jr Skis - Youth 2013:

These skis were recommended to me for telemark skiing in a backcountry store in Denver. While they are technically a junior ski, they are the perfect length for me and an amazing price. I mounted them with 22 Design's Vice Bindings and they are the perfect set up for hitting powder in the trees, skiing moguls in the resort, and they manage through the spring crud perfectly.

I wanted a ski that was no wider than 100 under foot so I could use them in all conditions. If you buy the regular Shiro, you get a much wider ski under foot and you pay more.

I'd recommend these for any woman looking for a fun and affordable ski for telemarking. They are a blast!

Comments about Volkl Shiro Jr Skis - Youth 2013:

This is my first pair of skis since I owned back in my youth, but over the past 3 seasons I've demoed tons of skis - Volkl (Kenja, Aura), Blizzard (Black Pearl, Samba), Kastle, K2 (Got Back, SuperBurnin), etc. I've certainly done my research, yet still I definitely had some minor doubts about going in on junior skis. But here's the thing: they are totally fantastic. I'm just bummed I didn't think of this sooner. It's a way to get a great men's ski in the right size and I've had so much fun skiing on these Shiros.
