Rock solid and precise as they get, the Völkl Nanuq Skis are one of the few alpine touring skis that ski like a "real" (read "alpine") ski when the chips are down. Still light enough not to bog you down on a week-long hut trip and absolutely confidence inspiring on the steep, the Nanuq gets our vote for a ski that you can use both inbounds and out without some serious disappointment at either end of the spectrum.
Touring Tip Rocker – Only bends upwards in the shovel area, while the middle and tail of the ski feature a traditional camber shape. The cambered area underneath the foot and at the tail provides control and support.
Classic Shape
Multi Layer Woodcore Light – Multi-layer core of very lightweight wood with channels milled out of the bottom for additional weight savings. Denser ash is used in the binding mount area for extra pullout strength, while lighter poplar is used in the tip and tail.
Tough Box Construction – Völkl protects the goods (in this case the Multi Layer Wood Core) with a composite and fiberglass sheath for resilience, durability and snap.
Full Sidewall – Direct and strong power transmission with full length sidewalls.
P-Tex 2100 Base – A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.
Skin Pin – Tip fittings accept Völkl glue-free Vacuum techonology climbing skins.
Made in Germany
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
