Product Info

Daydreaming of riding kinked rails all day? Get out to the park and lay down your favorite kinked rail trick with style and ease on the Völkl Kink Skis. The Kink is Völkl's most versatile all mountain twin tip ski, and features tip and tail rocker for easy transitions in the pipe and stylish moves in the park.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Tip and Tail RockerA slight rocker bend in the tip and tail, complemented by traditional camber under foot. This slight rocker profile, combined with classic camber gives you the ideal blend for frontside carving. Easy, smooth turn entry and exit, with acceleration and rebound as well. While not as maneuverable in soft snow as Völkl's full rocker designs, this rocker design works well on hard snow or in the park and pipe.

Core

Multi-Layer SensorwoodCreated in a complex CNC milling process, a highly sophisticated milling program enables Völkl to produce wood cores with extreme precision. It is 'extended' upwards and lengthwise, and milled to form chambers for the vertical sidewalls and torsion box. The material is a blend of poplar and beech wood, and is found in Völkl's highest performing models.

Additional Features

Tough Box ConstructionTough Box Construction features a multi-layered wood core wrapped with a composite/fiberglass sheath to create the ultimate resilience and snap for Völkl’s freeskiing models. Surrounding the core in the mid-body of the ski, it adds snap, strength and binding screw retention.

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Comments about Volkl Kink Skis 2014:

I bought this ski for those leisure days when the conditions were normal. Light powder, groomed, bumps, crud...I purchased the 179 but would have liked the ski in a longer size. I stand 5'10. Mounted them +1cm and have skied them once so far. And they skied just how I thought: fun. They carve well, take the bumps at fast speeds very well. You can ski with confidence through bad terrain on these. They don't chatter at fast speeds like some of these all-mountain rockered skis. They have just the right amount of rocker. My only complaints but are tolerable are the longest length and durability of the topsheet. A 185 would be nice in this ski. I like long skis. And if you cross your skis you're bound to take a good chunk out of the topsheet. It's kinds of rubbery. All in all, this ski is fun and happy with the purchase. I shopped around and was drawn to this ski. the graphics are hot too.

Comments about Volkl Kink Skis 2014:

I wake in the morning, put my snow pants on around my knees, wear my XXXXXL jacket and and stick these fresh AF skis into my lowered 96' honda civic and go right to the terrain park. These ski's are straight gnar gnar. The pop is great, and they look a lot better in person. Made 3's a breeze.

    Very Versatile

Comments about Volkl Kink Skis 2014:

First off I was a first time buyer of any skis. Skied for 9 years now but just got rentals at ski lodges. I mostly ride blues and black diamonds with the occasional relaxing green run.

    I primarily focus
    • 40% on groomed trails
    • 25% in the terrain park
    • 20% on powder
    • 15% in the trees.

When purchasing my first set of skis I wanted the most versatile ski out there, so I could take them anywhere. I live in Iowa, so I hit icy slopes in the Midwest and also powder heavy slopes out west like Colorado. I just really wanted that ski with a do-it-all attitude like myself but doing so with control, style, and power.

After talking to multiple customer service representatives, many suggested the Kinks as a suggested option along with other brands that offer similar designed skis for versatility. The Volkl Kink has all the right specs to take you anywhere on any mountain with 89mm width at center, twin tip, rocker-camber-rocker design, and 21m turn radius. With the 171cm length selection, the Kinks are fairly light and work well with my 5'10" 170 lb. body frame.

First time on the Kinks opened my eyes to a whole new world of skiing. Newly waxed and sharpened edges I was able to glide down the slopes. I pushed them hard with sharp turns, high speeds, and rails and jumps in the terrain park. These skis responded with ease, comfort, and a lot of "pop." They easily took on choppy snow and kept on top of powder with a wider width center and rocker tipped.
My only complaint is that the top sheet is rather soft and can get dings in it easily from catching an edge of the other ski. This is only cosmetic and hasn't affected any of my riding ability.

I highly recommend these skis for advanced skiers who ski similar to me and wants to take on the whole mountain in its entirety. The Volkl Kinks can take on anything you throw at them.

Really good skis. Light weight and able to do everything I wanted to do with them. These are my first center mounted skis so it took a little getting used to but once I learned them they work great for downhill carving and park skiing.
