Volkl Kiku Skis - Women's 2011: Volkl’s first women’s rockered ski, the Volkl Kiku Skis are made with an Extended Low Profile Shape that makes the ski soft on the tip and tail for easy turning and maneuverability, and stiff in the waist for stability. It’s multi-layer Sensorwood core makes this ski have unmatched performance anywhere on the mountain.
Utilizes Volkl’s Extended Low Profile (ELP) rocker design which features 4 key attributes working together to enhance performance. Volkl engineers continue to refine their rocker designs to adapt to various end uses, but the basic principle remains: an elongated, gradual bend, when put on edge, provides full, uniform edge/snow contact for better control on groomed snow, combined with unparalleled maneuverability in soft snow. These four key attributes are: 1) Round shape throughout: allowing easy smearing and speed control without sacrificing firm snow performance. 2) Flex: Flex zones are stiffer in the front, providing stability, and medium flex on the mid-body, for ease of turning on groomers. 3) ELP, each sidecut is specially formulated to the ski, aiding in performance on the snow, whether its powder or groomers. 4) Lower Tip Shape: provides a smooth ride on the groomed, and rides high in soft snow since there is a consistent bend throughout the ski.
Tough Box Construction features a multi-layered wood core wrapped with a composite/fiberglass sheath to create the ultimate resilience and snap for Volkl’s freeskiing models. Surrounding the core in the mid-body of the ski, it adds snap, strength and binding screw retention
Volkl’s longest-running construction, Power Construction features traditional vertical sidewalls. Featured throughout the Volkl freeskiing collection, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity.
Multi-layer wood core with two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates secure screw retention and stability, while the softer poplar section allows for resilience and snap.
