Volkl Chopstick Skis 2011: Just like the superiority and versatility of real chopsticks, the Volkl Chopstick Skis are well equipped to land switch in deep fluffy pow without a hitch, and generally take control of the backcountry. Featuring a True Twin shape and the ELP rocker design, you’ll be twirling these boards off cliff drops like it’s your job, but have the edge for hard pack when you really need it. Think of the Volkl Chopstick Skis as utensils for some extreme throwing down, and pretty soon you won’t remember how you could have once lived without them.
Shape
Utilizes Volkl’s Extended Low Profile (ELP) rocker design which features 4 key attributes working together to enhance performance. Volkl engineers continue to refine their rocker designs to adapt to various end uses, but the basic principle remains: an elongated, gradual bend, when put on edge, provides full, uniform edge/snow contact for better control on groomed snow, combined with unparalleled maneuverability in soft snow. These four key attributes are: 1) Round shape throughout: allowing easy smearing and speed control without sacrificing firm snow performance. 2) Flex: Flex zones are stiffer in the front, providing stability, and medium flex on the mid-body, for ease of turning on groomers. 3) ELP, each sidecut is specially formulated to the ski, aiding in performance on the snow, whether its powder or groomers. 4) Lower Tip Shape: provides a smooth ride on the groomed, and rides high in soft snow since there is a consistent bend throughout the ski.
Construction
Power construction powered by carbon features traditional vertical sidewalls. Featured throughout the Volkl freeskiing collection, this versatile, proven construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity. Tough box construction features a multi-layer wood core wrapped with a composite/fiberglass sheath to create the ultimate resilience and snap for the freeskiing models. Surrounding the core in the mid-body of the ski, it adds snap, strength, and binding screw retention.
Flex
Multi-layer wood core with two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates secure screw retention and stability, while the softer poplar section allows for resilience and snap.
Binding Compatibility
Requires brake width of 130mm to 145mm

Comments about Volkl Chopstick Skis 2011:

the skis worked great for the deep soft powder but when it got heavy wet powder it was hard to turn them at high and low speeds so if you can find the corn snow powder you will love them
