Volkl Chopstick Skis 2010: The Volkl Chopstick is designed for the rider who feels comfortable throwing switch takeoffs and landings off rather large backcountry-booters. The Chopstick is a down right incredible ride, with a sublime blend of float and smearing capability that will leave you speechless.

  • Core and Flex Pattern:Multi layer wood core with butter zones. The front of the ski is stiff; since the rocker design is pre-flexed, added stiffness in front provides stability. The flex in the mid-body of the ski is medium, providing a transition to the softer tail, which allows ease of turning on the groomed, and maneuverability in powder.
  • Construction:Power Construction: Völkl's longest-running construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup and provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity. Tough Box: Constructed by wrapping the core with layers of fibreglass strands. Made up of numerous 4 X 4 wraps, and oriented at different angles, Tough Box increases the strength of the connection between ski binding and ski.
  • Shape:Superfat, true twin, best for butters and jibs and backcountry airs
  • Binding Compatibility:Requires brake width of 130mm

Comments about Volkl Chopstick Skis 2010:

These skis are amazing. After 6 days on the Prophet 130's I decided to try these since they looked so cool. Even with the 130's I still felt like I had to lean back a bit to stay afloat in deep pow. After switching to these I was able to stay upright or even ski forward like I would on a groomer. I love the stiffness because they will blast through crud like no ski I have ever had. The stiffness and the rocker give you the confidence to ski harder and faster through sketchy terrain knowing that you will not end up going over the handle bars or wheelie'ing out all the time. Even on groomed snow they handle really well due to the elongated rocker profile.

Bottom line: Theses skis will absolutely crush skied out and chopped up pow and will effortlessly cruize and slash feet upon feet fresh.

Comments about Volkl Chopstick Skis 2010:

There are a few people out there who post the same bad review of the chopsticks on many websites. Don't listen to them. I got these skis over the summer and just rode them yesterday for the first time. I rode in everything from untracked to crud to groomers and have no complaints. THESE SKIS ARE FUN. Even though they have the ELP rocker system that looks much less extreme than that of the hellbent for example, it does an excellent job of staying on top of the snow. Stability for charging was there, which was great. Flexing the ski before and after the day there was a huge difference though, after the day of break in they are much softer. (not a bad thing). In short, these are great powder skis that i would recomend to only advanced and expert skiers.
