Product Info

About as versatile as they come, the Volkl Bridge Skis feature a rocker-specific shape of 128-95-115 with a smooth, gradual reverse camber, allowing for deep snow maneuverability along with solid groomed snow performance. It's a smooth ride that bridges (catchy phrasing, huh?) the gap between stick and plank, freerider and resort bomber.

Product Details

Rocker Type

ELP Full RockerVölkl Full rocker is a smooth, gradual bend from tip to tail, with matching sidecut and a symmetrical flex pattern. The Extended Low Profile (ELP) gives skiers all the benefits of extra maneuverability in soft snow while delivering smooth, sexy arcs on groomed terrain. The matching flex and sidecut on the full rocker gives you full, uninterrupted edge contact. The more the ski is on edge the more effective that edge becomes, and the resulting smoothness and predictability is uncanny.

Core

Multi-Layer SensorwoodCreated in a complex CNC milling process, a highly sophisticated milling program enables Völkl to produce wood cores with extreme precision. It is 'extended' upwards and lengthwise, and milled to form chambers for the vertical sidewalls and torsion box. The material is a blend of poplar and beech wood, and is found in Völkl's highest performing models.

Additional Features

Tough Box ConstructionTough Box Construction features a multi-layered wood core wrapped with a composite/fiberglass sheath to create the ultimate resilience and snap for Völkl’s freeskiing models. Surrounding the core in the mid-body of the ski, it adds snap, strength and binding screw retention.

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

These are my all around resort skis and they perform that function very well. They're great on any sort of soft snow and hold up well in modest amounts of powder. I've run these through about 10 inches of fresh powder and they floated just fine. I've also driven them through some pretty rough chop and crud and they bust it pretty well. I find Volkl's low profile rocker to be a great shape. It's easy to turn and still holds a decent carve when you want to lay it over. However, because of the rocker, these skis don't shine in icy conditions. Of course, ice is the least preferable surface for skiing, but a traditionally cambered ski will provide more edge contact on firm surfaces. Overall, a great all-mountain ski.

Most of my life I raced on the east coast, never really had the chance to ski in any real powder. I bought these skis thinking they would suffice. And they ddi their job, they helped me transition to the bigger mountains of the west, but now I just feel like I'm going to snap them on the groomers. Great for an advanced skier, but for hard pushers you might want to avoid these.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

I use this ski for firmer resort days or days that I plan to stay on the groomer. It is built to be able to handle pow but I personally like something wider.

It is easy to turn over and rips hard in skied out terrain. It is a very well rounded resort ski and can easily be used in the park and pipe.

Because of the rocker it can be hard to hold an edge on steep icey trails.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

Great skis! A little on the pricer side, but well worth the investment. They work best in powder, but they also hold up great on groomers (perfect for me considering I mainly ski mid west). Shipping is amazing and evo is a great company to buy from. The only con to these skis is that they arent the most durable. They are very easy to damage cosmetically, so be careful with them, but overall a great ski.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

I am an intermediate skier...so far. I took these skis out for the first time and had a great time on them. I was worried that they would be long and hard to turn, but that wasn't the case at all. Although these skis ride great, they are probably not the most durable skis on the market. I already have a few battle scars on my set after one day of use.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

Man these can rip, exactly what you'd expect from Volky's - they go hard in the paint and pop pop through pow when you hit the fluff, love it. Love these. Real mean ski when you push it hard. The thing has a power rod in it and you can feel it buckle down with you as you press through the front end turn. I've spun myself totally around in these guys - I dig a ski that can do that, like oh you wanna rip full through to uphill? Then let's go uphill. Great, durable, ski. All mountain purpose with no loss of performance. Respectable underfoot size, nothing to skinny, wide underfoot is in. Get the Bridge.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

I am not an expert ski reviewer, but coming from a 2005 Volkl camber skis. Just wanted to chime in to say that even though I'm more beginner/intermediate and not even close to an expert, the skis were a huge upgrade. I was worried that the width was too wide for me as a West coast skier, but works great even on crud.
Wish the graphics were a bit brighter but it's unique. Also, the evo Seattle folks said that for 2015 the graphics wouldn't be updated.
I'm a 5'10" and 180lbs and purchased the 179cm length and don't regret that at all.

Comments about Volkl Bridge Skis 2014:

I will be up front that I am not that knowledgeable about skis and is intermediate at best and not an expert. I was hesitant this was too wide or I wasn't good enough for these skis. But having 2005 Volkl cambers previously, these full-rockers were SO much easier to ski through West coast powder and crud. They are SO easy to initiate turning - I am a huge believe in the new technology.
They are made in Germany and I decided to pull the trigger on them (as well as Marker bindings) as on other sites the 2013 Bridges are only $30 cheaper and the Evo store gal (who was super helpful) said that the 2015 model won't be any different.
I'm a 5'10" 180lbs and was thinking about purchasing the 171cm but went ahead with the 179cm (again per recommendation from Evo folks) and don't regret it at all.
I do wish the graphics were a bit brighter but they are modern and is unique.
