Volkl Bridge Skis 2010: As the name implies, the Bridge is the bridge between big mountain and park riding. The graphic borrows a little from both big-mountain and park-specific designs. The shape is specifically designed for a skier who swings both ways, if you know what we mean – wide enough for the deep stuff but snappy and resilient for butters and jibs.

  • The Volkl Bridge wins the top spot on Freeskier Magazine’s best all-mountain twin tips for 2010. Bonus!
  • Core and Flex Pattern:Multi layer wood core with butter zones. The front of the ski is stiff; since the rocker design is pre-flexed, added stiffness in front provides stability. The flex in the mid-body of the ski is medium, providing a transition to the softer tail, which allows ease of turning on the groomed, and maneuverability in powder.
  • Construction:Power Construction: Völkl's longest-running construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup and provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity. Tough Box: Constructed by wrapping the core with layers of fibreglass strands. Made up of numerous 4 X 4 wraps, and oriented at different angles, Tough Box increases the strength of the connection between ski binding and ski.
  • Binding Compatibility:Requires bindings with a brake width of at least 90mm and not more than 110mm

        Used these skis in the Sierras when the new snow had dried up and the going was firm and hardpacked, and they were a gem. Carved well, handled the soft warm stuff well. Then the snow returned, and they really showed their stuff. Great float, easy turning, and so much fun.

          I've been skiing these all season and I love them. They can handle the whole mountain whether it's icy, groomers, or powder. They are stiff (as expected from Volkl skis) and cut through crud with ease.

          The only downside I see is that the topsheet edges get chipped and cut into very easily, but it's only aesthetic damage.

          Overall, I highly recommend these skis.

            I'm not the type to have multiple skis for various conditions so the Bridge is the ideal ski for me. I'm 6' 200lbs and definitely would not go smaller than the 185. I'm an east coast skier with about 5 days a year out west. Except for the terrible graphics this ski rocks.

            Rode this for spring skiing last year at Stowe and Okemo. The demo place only had a short pair (161 and center mounted). Skis felt real quick and nimble in the spring mogul slush. Ended up buying a pair of 169s traditional mount, rode them early season in VT and had a blast on groomers. Excited about trying them later on this year in trees.

                These are great after getting used to. My 1080 foils are slighly shorter, less regid and lighter. However, theVOLKls killed A basin after a snow storm in mid May 2010. Much less effort and more confidence in the steeps with these VOLKs in the powder/dough mix.
