Surface Live Life Skis 2012

Surface Live Life Skis 2012: Surface’s favorite ski photographer, Adam Clark, gets to ski some amazing terrain in some even more amazing locations. He can ride any skis he wants, however his skis of choice are the Surface Live Life Skis. Easy to maneuver due to its light weight (8.6lbs for the 181cm version) and featuring a hybrid rocker (camber under foot and early rise rocker) this is the ski for those that want a versatile ski that can rip the mountain top to bottom.
Shape
Early Rise Hybrid technology makes for an extremely smooth turn initiation and exit, along with keeping the tip of those boards on top of the deepest snow. The Hybrid Camber underfoot allows for that edge hold when snow tends to firm up or when terrain gets steeper and you need that extra bite.
Directional tapered shape
Construction
ABS Sidewall construction
2mm Mini-Cap
2.5mm Full Wrap Edge protection
Extruded Base
Binding Reinforcement sheets
Flex
Tip to tail Poplar wood core is feather weight and gives the Live Life a moderate flex that is powerful with lots of rebound.

Specs

  • Terrain: Powder
    Powder
These skis are for the deep days. If you like to find powder stashes at your local resort, go on backcountry missions for the freshest of fresh or heli ski trips to BC, powder skis are what you need to stay afloat. Skis in the powder category are wide and most often have some form of rocker or early rise plus a relatively soft flex. Many powder skis today are versatile enough to handle mixed conditions and harder snow.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Turning Radius: 22m @ 181cm, 26.2m @ 191cm
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as will as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
  • Core/Laminates: Wood
  • Tail Type: Full Twin Tip
    Full Twin Tip
Desinged to allow you to ski backwards, full twin tips are found primarily on park & pipe skis and freestyle powder skis. More and more, we are seeing twin tips on all-mountain skis of all abilities, as it makes it a little easier to get around, and for the most part does not inhibit forward skiing.
