Salomon Shogun Skis 2012: Your everyday freeride ski is here. The Salomon Shogun Skis are one ski to do it all with 350mm of rocker in the tip for some flotation when its powdery, a 102mm waist, and normal camber underfoot and in the tail so it hooks up on the groomers, skis the crud, and is quick enough for the bumps or park. A bamboo layer livens it up while basalt fibers and a full wood core dampen it down and keep it stable.
Shape
All Terrain Rocker shape in the tip area, with a medium length and low height, enables maximum terrain absorption and easy, progressive turn initiation, without sacrificing stability. An 80% pressure zone when flat precisely transitions to a 95% pressure zone when on edge for performance and precision on all conditions.
Semi Twin Tip tail increases the snow contact and stability at high speeds.
Construction
Edgy Monocoque offers precise edge grip, no excess material, and efficient energy transfer from the skier to the snow for freeskiing.
PULSE PAD is a layer of rubber along the edges and in certain zones of the ski for a smoother ride and improved ski-snow contact.
Edge Armor incorporates an extremely durable polyethylene fiber cord cross-laced between the edges of the skis to increase the edge strength for less edge depression and wrenching.
Wide Edges are thicker for increased durability and improved shock resistance.
Total Edge Reinforcement has a fiber directly on the edges providing edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.
Flex
Full Woodcore from tip to tail offers optimum stability on snow and powerful rebound, which maximizes ski/snow contact and filters vibrations.
Bamboo layer is light and strong and provides liveliness edge to edge.
Double Monocoque is a double layer of fibers for maximum response and edge grip.
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

    Shogun

Comments about Salomon Shogun Skis 2012:

The more I relaxed on this ski the better it skied. If I drove the tip too hard on the groomers it felt less stable. If I sat in the middle of the ski and stood square on my foot rather than just the ball the ski was super smooth. I think it makes a great ski for someone who may not be really aggressive intermediate to expert skier but is looking for something they can take everywhere and be confident the ski will handle it. Doesn't excel at one thing in particular but is above average for pretty much everything.

    The "Ski It All" Ski

    By Dr. Sue

    from Stevens Pass

Comments about Salomon Shogun Skis 2012:

It's a "Do everything if you can only have one ski and like off piste" ski. Not "excellent" or "best" at any particular thing BUT above average on everything except probably solid ice. Turns well but not effortless, but also is reliably stable.

Comments about Salomon Shogun Skis 2012:

I have demoed these skis for several years as well as women's specific skis. When it came time to purchase new skis this season, the Shoguns were the tried-and-true. Evo had a great price, and I didn't mind having last year's graphics. When people mention, "playful", they definitely live up to that description. I ski them in powder and on the groomed trails. Did alright on the carving. This is one for the collection.
