Salomon Enduro XT 800 Skis + Z12 Bindings 2012: Salomon is setting new standards for all-mountain skis with the Enduro series. The Salomon Enduro XT 800 Skis are high-performance all-mountain skis combining Powerline dampening system for unrivaled stability and control with all-mountain rocker for more terrain versatility. This Large Chassis is for skiers who ski 70% on-piste with its versatility, carving ability, smoothness, and flotation in deep powder.
Shape
All Terrain Rocker shape in the tip area, with a medium length and low height, enables maximum terrain absorption and easy, progressive turn initiation, without sacrificing stability. An 80% pressure zone when flat precisely transitions to a 95% pressure zone when on edge for performance and precision on all conditions.
Square tail design enables powerful turn completion on groomers and security on very steep terrain.
Construction
Sandwich Sidewalls offer extraordinary smooth ski/snow contact and great terrain adaptation. This is a must for powerful skis. Laminated sandwich sidewall construction enables Salomon to combine appropriate material layers for targeted performance.
POWERLINE All-Mountain Active Dampening System is dedicated to wide skis. It consists of 2 arms running along the side of the ski that absorb terrain changes, improving stability in all conditions.
Oversized PULSEPAD is an anti vibration layer molded all along the front part of the ski to filter vibrations for better absorption and smooth ski/snow contact.
Total Edge Reinforcement has a fiber directly on the edges providing edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.
Bindings
The Salomon Z12 Bindings are integrated onto the new Extended Transfer Platform, a wide Aluminum plate embedded in rubber for direct feedback from the terrain and better power transmission.
Included Bindings
Bindings do not come mounted to the skis. Always have a certified technician mount and adjust the bindings.
Core and Flex Pattern
Full Woodcore from tip to tail offers optimum stability on snow and powerful rebound, which maximizes ski to snow contact and filters vibrations.
Light and strong Bamboo layer provides liveliness edge to edge.
Double Ti Laminate 400 is a double layer of Titanium that improves on-piste performance with more precision, enormous edge grip, and improved responsiveness.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Carving
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Carving
For those that like the classic feeling of laying a ski over on edge and arcing a perfect turn, carving skis are what you want. These skis have narrower waists and shorter turn radii for edge to edge quickness and responsive turn initiation and exit on groomed runs and hard pack. The beginner-intermediate skis in this category are designed to make learning how to turn as easy as going from pizza to French fries.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber
    Rocker/Camber
Rocker/Camber skis pair a traditional cambered profile underfoot with an elongated, early rise tip borrowed from fully rockered skis. This profile places the front contact point further back from the tip, while the rear contact point remains close to the tail. The rockered tip allows for better flotation and less edge catch for increased float in deep snow, while the cambered rear stores and transmits energy similarly to a fully cambered ski.
  • Core/Laminates: Bamboo, Metal, Wood
  • Tail Type: Flat
    Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.

Comments about Salomon Enduro XT 800 Skis + Z12 Bindings 2012:

This is an excellent All-Mountain ski and performs as advertised. It responds well to different pressures: you can ride light or put the hammer down and either slice through pushed up snow or hardpack and the edges will hold solid, stable and smooth. I tried to overski it and could not - it sliced cleanly through piles with very little shock transition. Hardpack: it carves and has excellent progressive initiation. Powder: yes its not a wide body ski but floats very well with easy initiation. Trees: quick turning easy to maneuver. Groomers: wicked fun - can ski it light or hard, GS or short turns. Overall i was very impressed. I think there are a lot of very good skis out there, and not everyone will be comfortable on the same instrument, but if you want a very stable, fun to drive, can be on piste, off piste, in powder, groomer to off the side crud that is a great, super-fun ride, i recommend you think about this ski. I demoed a number of them and bought this one - go with standard length assessment.

Comments about Salomon Enduro XT 800 Skis + Z12 Bindings 2012:

I ski Stowe, Whiteface, & Gore. All are demanding mountains with plenty of that difficult transitional conditions. Very stable through the piles, able to edge the "frozen granular". Tough skis in the steep East Coast trails with many "features".
