Rossignol Temptation 78 Skis + WTPI²/Saphir 110 Bindings - Women's 2012: The Rossignol Temptation 78 Skis are an active all-mountain set up with a predictable versatility that makes them an ideal one-ski-quiver for aspiring female experts. The turn shape has a round organic feel with tons of grip but allows easy manueverability and speed control, never locking you in. Traditional camber underfoot delivers power, energy and edge grip with a rockered tip and tail that dramatically improves the turn initiation and tracking in any condition. The Temptation 78 is a confidence boosting all-mountain platform for aspiring experts to master all conditions and terrain.
Shape
Auto Turn is engineered with 70% traditional high camber underfoot while the remaining 30% of the tip and tail features low rocker. The high camber underfoot delivers power, energy, and edge grip for on-piste performance. The subtle rocker tip and tail delivers easy steering, and effortless speed control for better versatility in any terrain or snow type.
Oversize Sidecut takes the benefits of the aggressive sidecuts of carving skis and combines it with modern waist widths to produce accurate edge feel and unprecedented stability.
Construction
Central Dualtec combines the best features of sandwich and cap construction. The cap increases the ski's durability and facilitates rebound while the traditional sidewalls underfoot produce crisp, direct edging pressure. The benefits of the combined constructions yield smooth flex and strong edging for comfortable control.
Power Ramp is a women's-specific interface engineered to raise the heel to help adapt to women skiers lower center of gravity.
Cascade Tip provides a lighter extremity. The unique layered shapes control tip torsion which smoothes out turn initiation and improves full edge contact. The lighter weight tip improves the swing weight of the ski for quick and adaptable turn initiation.
Bindings
The Rossignol Saphir 110 Bindings are integrated to the WPTI2 plate that absorbs vibrations and store energy to create explosive rebound out of a turn and into the next.
Included Bindings
Bindings do not come mounted to the skis. Always have a certified technician mount and adjust the bindings.
Core and Flex Pattern
Wood core with Carbon and Fiberglass laminates is snappy and powerful but lightweight.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as will as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
  • Core/Laminates: Foam
  • Tail Type: Partial Twin Tip
    Partial Twin Tip
Partial twin tip skis have a tail that is turned up, but not as much as the tip. This gives you the ability to ski backwards and back out of tight spaces, but these skis are mainly designed to ski forward.

I demoed these out in CO this year and they were absolutely wonderful. They handled beautifully in the powder as well as the crust. Also, these skis are very speedy! I have no complaints about this product and I recommend it to advanced skiers on the east & west coast! Enjoy.

          Comments about Rossignol Temptation 78 Skis + WTPI²/Saphir 110 Bindings - Women's 2012:

I tried these out at local demo day. The shorter 154mm had to much chatter on the hard pack/ice but, the 169 was great. Easy to move in the bumps, great carving on the hard pack/ice and good in the crud. (Don't know about the powder yet!) Good all round ski. I'm 5'8" and 140 female, ski 20+ Years. I'm so excited for next season!

          Comments about Rossignol Temptation 78 Skis + WTPI²/Saphir 110 Bindings - Women's 2012:

After an 8+year break from skiing, I purchased these skis as the first set of skis that I actually own. Up to now I have either borrowed or rented ski packages. I consider myself an (out of shape) intermediate skier and I purchased these skis to grow into skill-level and shape wise. I am 5'7" and 200 lb and purchased the skis in the 158 cm length. I was told by several sales people at different stores not to worry about the fact that I currently exceed the weight recommendations for the ski. I used the "ship to store option" and Evo installed the bindings for me at the store free of charge with a DIN 7 setting, which is well within the DIN-range of the bindings.

I took them out for the first time last weekend to after more than five feet of fresh snow dumped onto Crystal Mountain Resort over the past week. I stayed on the green runs helping my 5-year old along the way, with him and his 40 pounds sandwiched between me and my skis at times. The edge control on the skis is excellent. I don't think I could have stayed on the edge with a lesser ski while helping a beginner ski down a green run.

Once my son got the basics down by himself, I was able to do some carving all by myself. The ski did beautiful turns, and it did well on two-three inches of powder that were floating on top of the groomed piste. The Skis are fairly stiff and fat and it took me a lot of energy to carve with them (keep in mind that I am out of shape). Carving was definitely easier with the shorter and softer rental skis that I used two weeks prior to this, but edge control and powder floating is way better on my new Rossis.

I also purchased the Women's 2011 Lange Exclusive Delight Super 100 Ski Boots. It's a fairly stiff pair of boot, which is probably also the reason why I had such excellent edge control. If you got your technique down, this ski/boot combo will help you advance to the next level, like it hopefully will do for me ;-)

At first I was afraid that this ski package was advanced for me, but now I am excited to grow into it.
