Rossignol S86 Freeride Skis 2011: Amptek Technology is back for another season in the Rossignol S86 Freeride Ski. Amptek combines traditional camber underfoot and reverse camber at the tip and tail to make this one of the most versatile skis available. Narrow enough at the waist at 86.5mm for icy/packed snow riding, but wide enough to traverse off into deeper, lighter snow. Talk about versatility!

Rossignol’s Reverse Sidecut technology features a unique, tapering tip and tail with regular sidecut directly underfoot.
Construction
The Rossignol S86 Skis feature Rossignol’s unique AmpTek ski design concept that combines traditional and reverse camber to deliver more versatility, rebound, boost and ease-of-use than conventional skis. The traditional camber underfoot delivers power, energy and edge grip under foot where you need it most. The reverse camber at the tip and tail deliver more floatation, easier steering and more forgiveness.
Flex
Wood core provides ultimate response, feel, power and durability. Core is made from ash and fume treated poplar and is hand milled to the shape of the skis’ profile. Wood used in Rossignol skis is harvested by the factory from sustainable wood, grown in renewable tree farms.

Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as well as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
