Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

These were highly recommended by the folks at REI and the incredible crew at Mt Bachelor Ski shop - I've used them on hard pack at Mt. Hood and deep pow at Mt. Bachelor. They are light and damp and handle all conditions superbly. Not the edge grip of my last pair (Volkls) but pretty close. They are so good, my wife just demo'd the sister sticks (Rossignol Voodoos SC80) and we just bought those today.

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

I demo'd 4 or 5 different Rossi skis first and these skis 3 times before purchase to make sure. I was looking to replace older & narrower Bandit X skis with newer technology. They handle the late afternoon slop AND powder very well. A bit heavy they hold well and do EVERYTHING I want. I went from a 191cm to a 180cm ski. I'm glad I bought them. I've been skiing for 25 years.

EVO did me well! Direct to my door, no hassles.

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

I ski in souteastern Indiana so I haven't gotten these in deep and steep stuff yet, but I will. I skiied them on packed powered, icy and slush conditions and they ripped it all to shreds! They do very well in moguls also. They absorb impacts very nicely. The only drawback I have senn yet it they tend to scuff easily. I use 2009 Tecnica Agent 110 boots with them. It seems to be a good combination. I can't wait to get these on some steeps, I'm sure they will do great.

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

I usually ski in southern California at Big Bear's Snow Summit, and anyone familiar with the terrain will know that the conditions usually start in the morning ICY and end up being SLUSHY at the end of the day. When i first used these skis, I noticed how well they performed in both conditions. I was also really impressed how well they handle at high speeds. Not once did i feel "out of control". Perfect skies for all conditions and all mountain style skiing. I don't usually ride the moguled terrain, so i can't comment on how they react. Great stylish look and great quality brand are the first two elements that caught my eye. All-around excellence!! Thanks Rossignol!!

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

Great ski for just about any snow - terrific in powder but they really hold their own in sloppy and icy conditions as well. Truly an excellent purchase if you are trying to get away from the "golf bag" syndrome that sometimes happens with upgrading your equipment.

My one complaint is how quickly the skis show wear and scratch up pretty quickly. I only used mine for two months and they already look like they have been through a couple of seasons.

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

I'm a very good Expert skier... I ski Kirkwood and Squaw. I ski off piste at least 80%. These Skis are rockets on very steep packed snow. They hold like rails. I used them in 2 feet of Powder, Powder bumps, crud, steep walls, firm bumps, hard pack. They excel on packed snow... Hard steep boiler plate, No problem. In Powder and soft snow the tips and tails tended to hang up and hook. I ended up detuning the tips AND tails... and that solved the problem. Now they are pretty awesome in all conditions. These skis are MORE aggressive than the old Bandit line... and heavier.
Get some WIDER skis for powder days.

An awesome go-anywhere and do-anything ski.I demoed Salomon X-wing Fury and Rossi Phantom. Decided to go with Phantoms as they are more forgiving and provide better transition. Phantoms deliver solid performance in just about any condition and any trail, except for moguls (not the Phantom's fault, I just don't ski moguls).Very happy with my purchase.

Excellent service by the Evogear crew. Fast delivery.

          You guys rock!!!

Comments about Rossignol Phantom SC 80 Skis + Rossignol Freebeam Axial2 120 Bindings 2009:

This is my 3rd season on skiing, so I am not an expert. I am more a intermediate advanced skier (black runs). I also have not much chance to try on different skis. I can only compare this one with my old skis, which is Head XRC 400.

The first thing I noticed when I put on Phantom SC80 is its flotation. I felt I was a bit like flying over the snow on my first run. It is fast, easy to turn, and very steady.

When I used my old pair at local mountains, which most times are spring like condition. I got caught in compression at least few times during 2-3 hours skiing. But with my new Phantom, it never happened! It also handle the bumps very well. No matter you want to make some quick short turns to sneak around bumps or jump over the bumps, Phantom just perform smoothly.

I have not tried the real powder yet. But with its flotation, I believe it can handle powder very well. I have a lot of fun so far with my new skis, and I feel I am ready to advance to next level.

These are great skis but not as wide as many other on the market. In hindsight a wider ski might have been a better choice.
