Product Info

The once radical ON3P Billy Goat Skis, with their Reverse Elliptical Sidecut tips and traditional large radius sidecut tails, have become a classic. This highly esteemed all mountain freeride stick does it all, and does it well at speed. Its ample tip rocker and medium-stiff flex allow the Billy Goat to float easily in fresh and snap off quick turns at the user's will in tight trees or critical situations. Highly recommended as a "quiver-of-one" ski for those with a soft-snow orientation.

Product Details

Rocker Type

Elliptical Rocker ProfileRocker profile and tip shape are combined into one progressively changing elliptical arc, allowing the tips to plane faster in powder, deflect less in variable snow, and help the edge engage more naturally.

Flex

Medium-stiffAn all mountain flex that provides stability at speed while still allowing ease of turning

Sidecut

Reverse Elliptical SidecutReverse Elliptical Sidecut (RES) is a large, convex elliptical arc that runs from boot center to tip taper. With no traditional sidecut in the tips, the skis resist hooking or catching in soft snow and give the skier the freedom to choose any turn shape they wish at any speed.

Dynamic Contact ZoneON3P's Reverse Elliptical Sidecut (RES) tightens as it approaches the tips, creating a Dynamic contact Zone (DCZ) that, when on edge, creates a simulated turn radius with the traditional sidecut tail. This results in excellent edge hold on harder snow. The elliptical design maximizes the length of the contact zone when edging, comparable to that of a traditional sidecut ski.

Core

Bamboo CoreON3P skis use a vertically laminated, 100% bamboo core. Bamboo is a quick-growing, environmentally-friendly grass that provides a responsive but very damp feel when used as a ski core.

Laminates

Unidirectional Carbon StringerEach ON3P ski incorporates unidirectional carbon around the core, adding pop, stiffness and dampness without significant weight increase.

Sidewalls

UHMW SidewallsUHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) Polyethylene has incredible impact resistance, a higher resistance to abrasion than steel, and resists cracking.

Base

Durasurf 4001 BasesBetter glide and abrasion resistance than other sintered or extruded base material. ON3P uses base material that is 38% thicker than the industry standard for better durability.

Edges

Rockwell 48C Steel EdgesON3P uses 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm Rockwell 48C Hardness Steel edges for durability. Edges are applied in a 3/4 wrap, which allows the tip and tail to flex more naturally and decreases the risk of delamination.

Binding Compatibility

Bindings not included

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Comments about ON3P Billy Goat Skis 2013:

This has to be one of the best skis I have ever been on. They charge hard on the groomers and then are able to float in the deep stuff all day. I was surprised when railing the ski on the groomers that the tail never grabbed and it didn't feel too choppy for a fat ski. Whats most impressive is how well they preform on crud and mash potatoes. It just eats it up...you can just ski over anything. It got a little sluggish in the trees, but I was also on a 191, I think the 186 is a much better size for this ski, unless you are charging open faces...then go with the 191.

Great NW one ski quiver!

Comments about ON3P Billy Goat Skis 2013:

Despite being a fat ski and only taking them out on hard pack and groomers, they performed amazingly well! Nible for their size with excellent edge control, the BGs railed high speed turns like a much smaller ski. I own a pair of 191cm 2012 BGs and ON3P has continued to dial in the new model to be a great NW one ski quiver. ON3P's build quality, in my opinion, continues to be one of the best in the industry. They can take a beating and not show the wear for it. I only wish I had 6 to 12+ inches of fresh pow to play with, because that's where I'm sure they would really shine!

Comments about ON3P Billy Goat Skis 2013:

Hands down, my favorite ski I tested this year. It is a ski designed in the Pacific Northwest for the Pacific Northwest. With a waist of 116 at the 186 length, this ski has plenty of girth to handle deep powder for sure. What really sold me on the Goats was how well they held an edge on hard pack snow and how stable I felt even going through some chundery crud at speed. Even in tight trees looking for soft snow, I never once felt out of control even hitting ice like on other rockered skis. It seems like there is the perfect meld of rocker and camber on these to handle anything. Throw a reasonably lightweight on the playfully stiff BG, and I think I may have a winner on my powder touring ski for next year for sure.

Comments about ON3P Billy Goat Skis 2013:

These skis rip! I only had a chance to check them out on groomers at this year's demo day, but was impressed at how I could really lay down some big GS turns with confidence and slash through crud without getting tossed around. The reverse sidecut in the tip is a definite bonus this year and so is the new added rocker up front. All around an epic ski made in the PNW for the PNW!

Game changer

Comments about ON3P Billy Goat Skis 2013:

I have skied on the first gen version of this ski as well as the newly redesigned 2013 model. The changes they made to the shape and how the ski handles have made this ski an absolute monster. The ski is better in every way than the original model, which was an excellent ski as it was. On3p is dedicated to progression and constantly tweaking their skis to make them better every season and it shows. The Billy Goat is an incredibly stable hard charging pow ski. It is incredible in crud and can even manage to pull of super g turns on groomers as well. The tapered tip and tails make the ski very maneuverable and catch free. If you are looking for a deep day ski that can stomp big airs and still feel playful when you want it to this is the ticket.
