Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

I demoed these skis only one day but was blown away! I ski in Colorado and in Aspen these skis are very popular and I kept hearing great things. I was not let down when I put em on. For a pow ski at 114 underfoot I was extremely surprised at their groomer/hard pack performance. I was able to charge groomers with confidence and maneuver them well in bumps and chop. They ski much stiffer than they hand flex so don't be turned off by their seemingly floppy feel. I didn't give them 5 stars b/c I didn't get them in deep, fresh pow but I did get them in some older, crusted stuff. They did great in those conditions and I'm pretty sure they would do great in the deeper stuff. Also, I hit some rocks and got a good, deep scratch from one of them but it wasn't a core shot. They are light so I imagine that the bases may be a little soft in order to shave off weight. I am getting back into skiing after 5 years of snowboarding so I am not an expert but they inspired confidence like no other ski I have tried. I was especially impressed with their ability on groomers and hard pack. They wanted to carve and were very quick edge to edge. I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

Nordica has finally built a ski that is worth going out and getting your hands on!!!

Age: 27 years old
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175lbs

I've been a skier my entire life. Ski racing to the intro of 'new-school' to the current deep POW chase - it feels like over the years I've skied on a LOT of different skis. Hellbents, Chopsticks, Pollards', Bentchetlers', Bibbys', Surface New/One Lifes, ON3P Caylors, etc.
I've spent time on just about all of the major players out there and until now I wouldn't be sitting here writing a review for Nordica skis because to be completely honest you would have been totally wasting your time & money with a ski that you would have been unhappy with.

YET.... Nordica has completely changed the game with the Patron.

Here's why:

Outta the plastic you will find a light and well balanced ski that when flexed gives a deeply playful yet not overly soft flex pattern. They're poppy in all the right sorta ways and not a flimsy noddle that can be bent in half.

The tip of the ski has what Nordica calls their 'hammerhead' design, which you can find in many other similar skis, (S7, EP Pro's) where the tip of the ski is slightly more narrow than the widest point on the tip which is blown out at about 3" back from the end of the tip. This creates a wide spot up on the tip that is great for 'early-rise' flotation and as well as progressive tricks like Butters, Jibs, & Presses. I have been EXTREMELY surprised when buttering at how stable and consistent the flex throughout the tip has been. Easily engaging and yet not too soft that you'd forward endo when you put your weight into the tips.

The tails of the skis are slightly more stiff that the tips (as they should be) and offer a solid landing platform when coming down hard off big drops. They aren't overly stiff leaving your legs beat up after landing backseat, and they aren't too soft that you wheelie out or go over the handle bars. This is a major problem with many 'rockered' skis on the market, being too soft and not having stability at high speed/pressure, yet Nordica has found the sweet spot with the Patron. I'm very impressed.

Skiing switch on the Patron is done with ease. They cave nicely, and although not a symmetrical ski at 143/113/132mm, high-speed switch turns on hard-pack are cranked out effortlessly with great stability.

Bottom line, after skiing on the Patron for over two months I am thoroughly sold with what Nordica Skis is doing and I can confidently suggest the Patron to anyone who is looking for a balanced - soft/playful/rocker & solid/stable/cambered - ski capable of ripping the entire mountain.

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

These skis hand flex pretty soft, but ski with confidence. Their mellow rocker profile feels great in any condition. They seemed to float well in deep snow and could ski through crud with ease. I think at high speed they might have a tendency to wash out a bit, but they are more of a playful jib type powder ski anyway. On groomed snow they can throw down medium radius turns very well and feel pretty solid. Overall, they seem like a great choice for a deep day.

Still waiting for the deep powder this season. So only tried so far on minimal snow and they work very well. Can tell the camber is doing its job and looking forward to using the rocker in powder. Bindings mounted at the classic mark and they are perfect

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

What an amazing ski! I have my 193's mounted 3cm from the rear mark. Wow, they carve, float in pow and pivot on a dime - quick in moguls (for such a fat ski) and are pretty much able to rip entire mountain. If I was an east coast skier I would probably go with S3 but since in CO we get nice pow I consider these my one ski rules them all - I doubt my other skis will see any action this year...

What an awesome ski. I am tall (6'5") 220lb and went with 193 size. This ski rocks! floats like a dream but also carves (did find some ice patches which would make me cry on my Atomic Access, but Patrons handled it great)! I am solid advanced (hoping for Expert status in a season or two) and have demo/owned many skis - S7, Atomic Access, Pettitor - These are by far the best. What surprised me was how nimble on the bumps they were - I don't think S3's I did demo last season were any better. They turn, pivot and twist on a dime (I have them mounted about 3cm forward to a classic line - my mid boot mark goes just above the E in the Made in Austria mark). The best ski ever - true one ski for all occasions :)

The 1st day I used these in 10" of fresh snow. I felt no change go from powder to packed, or packed into the powder. I was very impressed with the quick turning in moguls, stability at high speed, and the forgiveness going in and out of troughs - not trying to throw me at all.

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

One day was enough on a pair of Demo Nordica Patrons for me to decide I needed to buy a pair. I had a few good power days in VT this year but did not own a pair of skis to fully take advantage of them. I wanted a ski that could rip in not just the powder but on the whole mountain. Based on the reviews the Nordica Patrons seemed to fit the bill. The day I demoed them we got a late season storm that dropped about 5" on the mountain but warmed up fast over the day. The top of the mountain was covered powder yet the bottom was covered in toothpaste. The Patrons worked very well in both conditions and were able to hold an edge on the stuff in between. I got into the trees a bit and despite being 186s the Patrons are light enough to easily swing around to miss the hard stuff. They seemed to work great in the crud and soft bumps but were a bit rough in the harder more formed moguls. I will stick to my shorter narrower skis when spending a day in the bumps. I have a feeling the Patrons will be well worth the money on powder days but you may want to have a few pairs of skis in your arsenal to pick from for other days.

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

I am about six feet tall, 175 pounds and skied the Patron 185 mounted at plus two from the factory recommended setting. I was looking for an all mountain twin tip ski that made it easy to add some individuality and uniqueness to my personal skiing style and the Patron delivered big time. I absolutely loved the softer tip and tail that made for effortless buttering and tip presses that do nothing but add some major fun to any run! Along with the playfulness, the design of the ski made it super maneuverable making tight trees and narrow chutes much easier to navigate.

In powder, the Patrons kept me up on top of the snow providing a super "surfy" feel that was easy to control and left me grinning ear to ear every time! On groomers the ski was pretty quick edge to edge and I was super stoked at how well it was able to hook up and rip turns.

The bottom line is I totally love these skis, they are super forgiving, playful and an all around blast! I absolutely believe that these skis are the perfect tool to help me progress my skiing and hopefully move out of that intermediate category one day!!!

                  By

                  from Alpental, WA

Comments about Nordica Patron Skis 2013:

I was extremly impressed by Nordica's Patron, considering it's not a company I had been as familiar with in past. For their size, I felt the Patrons were agile and surprisingly stable at speed for how flexible and soft they felt prior to putting them on. I liked the mellow tip rise, which is probably a big reason they feel so stable. Unfortunately it had been sunny and clear for a week before I was able to get out on them, as I would have loved to get them in a foot or two of fresh pow to see just how well those tips stay afloat. After jumping on a pair of these, I will certainly be paying more attention to Nodica Skis in the future!
