Product Info

One of, if not the most versatile powder skis on the market, the Nordica Helldorado Skis blew testers' minds last year with it's power and versatility. Sporting the same low tip and tail profile and progressive sidecut as the Patron, the Nordica Helldorado takes the Patron chassis and beefs it up with two sheets of titanal, for an incredibly smooth and vibration free ride on any surface - this ski is your friend on 50 MPH outruns through semi-frozen avalanche debris.

Rocker Type

Powder CamRockPowder CamRock skis are built to ski powder in ways never before thought possible. With significant rocker in the tip and tail, these skis float effortlessly. By retaining a bit of camber under foot, these are still exceptionally stable and track comfortably in all snow conditions, even hard pack. The very low, broad, “Blunt Nose” design maximizes on edge snow contact while reducing unstable tip vibration that is a common in other rockered skis.

Medium-StiffRides hard and fast down the slopes while still allowing for precise turns and flotation in pow.

Blunt NoseBlunt Nose design maximizes on edge snow contact while reducing unstable tip vibration that is common in other rockered skis.

Low Tip and Tail Profile

Ash/Poplar Wood Core

Energy 2 TitaniumOffers the highest level of performance with a full wood core from tip to tail and two layers of Titanium extending over the edges. This construction comes directly from the World Cup and provides the most precise flex curve as well as maximum power transmission, torsion resistance, and rebound in all conditions.

ABS SidewallHelps dampen hard landings while decreasing vibration fatigue

UHMW sintered graphite Electra Gallium

Comments about Nordica Helldorado Skis 2014:

I am 28 years old, 6'6" 180lbs. I am not a technically trained skier but I have skied a lot in the past few season and I like to ski fast. Today the conditions limited us to groomed runs but I was surprised to find that the Helldorado is just as happy banging out high speed arcs on firm snow as it is in powder or crud. With significan rocker in the tip and tail this ski is easy to pivot, but due to the metal and camber underfoot it also retains a lot of stability at high speed. On the groomers this ski has as much edge grip and dampness as I would want. Perhaps a bit too wide for full on boilerplate ice, this ski will happily carve a trench in the majority of conditions that you see on groomed runs in Washington. it is also quite capable or ironing out the bumps that for later in the day, providing you with some energy saving stiffness underfoot. The ski is not light but the weight did not bother me. I have since owned this ski in a 193 length and I find it a perfect all around quiver of 1 ski. It is playful but burly when it needs to be, wide enough to float in deeper snow but narrow enough for hard groomer laps, and soft enough in the tips and tails for backseat landings (guilty) while stiff enough underfoot not to get nervous when you are going fast. Two thumbs up

Comments about Nordica Helldorado Skis 2014:

The Helldorado is by far the most playful and fun ski I can remember skiing that has metal in it. The stouter version of the Patron it is a heavier more stable and hard charging version. It requires you to be on top of the ski a bit more than the Patron but the rocker profile gives it a bigger sweet spot than any other ski like it. It seemed to be the testers favorite the day we all skied it as the metal helped keep the ski quiet on the hard pack. I liked this ski and would totally recommend it to the right person. This is the ideal ski for someone looking for a playful ski but has a big enough mountain that you can really open it up and utilize the metal like Jackson, Whistler, Snowbird, even Crystal. The other person I would say would love this ski is someone not as aggressive but loves the smooth factor metal adds to a ski but still wants a ski that is manageable and forgiving so you do have to ski hard on it all day.

Comments about Nordica Helldorado Skis 2014:

- I am 5'10 and 170lbs. This was a good size of ski for me in this model. I am a fairly aggressive skier, confident on most inbounds terrain. I typically ski fat rockered skis such as the atomic bentchetler. - I liked how stable this ski felt. No matter how fast I pushed it, it never felt chattery or unstable. It definitely likes to go fast. I would love to see how it performed in softer snow but I was definitely impressed with it's performance in less than ideal conditions. That makes it a pretty good bet for a ski that does it all. - I loved the ski's weight and side cut on the hard pack but I wonder if it would make the ski less nimble/more hooky in powder compared to similar skis. The metal construction, which makes the ski so stable, definitely makes this ski HEAVY. I would not recommend it for skiers who anticipate doing a lot of side country/boot packing since putting them on your shoulder all day would suck. Overall, I loved the ski but it's tough to have a good read on a powder ski that you have only skied on hard snow.
