Line EP Pro Skis 2010: The Line EP Pro Skis are the world’s fattest, most progressive freestyle specific powder ski. And they’re Eric Pollard’s pro model. The Line EP Pro Skis make previously impossible tricks now possible in the powder so aggressive skiers can venture out of the park and into the wild.

  • Core and Flex Pattern:Maple Macroblock Core - 100% wood core made from the widest and highest quality wood laminates. Soft and flexy, but still stiffer than your grandma’s Franzia.
  • Construction:Early Rise Technology – Contact points start earlier in from the tips causing the ski to rise out of the powder instead of plowing. No reverse camber for reliable handling on groomed terrain.
  • Shape:Early Taper Technology – Widest points on top and tail are moved further in from the tips to reduce tail drag and hooking in the powder. Tail sinks and tip rises easier in powder.
  • Binding Compatibility:Requires brake width of at least 120mm

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

These skis are an incredible amount of fun in the right conditions. The first day I got on them was a hardpack groomer day. I was absolutely blown away by how hard you could crank these guys in the turns despite their ridiculously soft flex. They will rail turns just as hard as any other ski you can think of and ski like a fat slalom ski. They are incredibly fun to ski even on straight groomer days. I was super surprised that they didn't feel very chattery either. The second day I got on these was a super wet day with about 3 or so inches of new off piste. After skiing over a few rollers and bumps in pow I immediately began to realize why Pollard likes the softer flex. They flex to stay on top of any terrain feature you come up to so they are near unsinkable. They will allow you to really pop off of anything even in pow which makes them really fun.The third day I had on these was an extremely skied out pow day that had some pretty hard snow underneath. This is where these skis fall flat on their face. Trying to ski these in hard bumps and crud with any sort of speed is near impossible. Their soft flex that works so well for soft snow lets you get bucked around and tossed when the snow gets a little hard. These skis really do have a pretty low speed limit when it comes to charging through crud. When trying to carve fast in crud they tend to get extremely hooky and are downright scary at high speed, but that is my only bone to pick with these skis.Overall I would say I prefer my chopsticks for most days but on soft snow days they are a riot.Bottom line: If you want to have a huge smile on your face all season and love to ski pow, butter and slash everything in sight, and still be able to rip on groomers get this ski. If you are looking to charge lines look elsewhere.

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

FUN FUN FUN. Crazy flotation. Been skiing on the past two models and I can not wait to jump on this one. While it was made 15% stiffer this season, off the shelf it feels pretty similar. 15% stiffer means 15% more face shots. Break out the snorkels Ladies and Gents. Best buttering ski on the market. You can almost touch your nose to the snow when nose-buttering and hand drag just like the movies on a tail butter. Seriously so much fun. The suggested mount point on the EP Pro is 2cm back from true-center. I've ridden both suggested and true-center and like both fairly equally. If I had to pick one I'd go with true-center. Equal swing weight makes spinning seem so effortless. Heed this warning however, there is an adjustment period when jumping on this ski for the first time if you have not skied rocker technology yet. The soft flex of the tail means you have to be on your toes, being back seat equals a wash-out if you're not careful. All in all I love this ski so much it has provided me with the confidence to ski in ways that I've only dreamed about. The boosty pop and softy flex makes you feel like you're surfing. Pollard surfs snow on the EP's, why can't you?

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

Although the EP's are definitely pow skis, I only had the opportunity to ride them last year on a sunny groomer day, no fresh lines for me. However, I had so much fun skiing groomers with them that by the time I was done riding, I had already decided that I was going to get a pair. I have never been on a fat ski that feels so playful. I cannot wait to try them out in the pow.

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

I bought these skis when I decided to make the move out west. I had heard a lot about them, good and bad, and decided to pick them up. I had heard that they were too soft and were only a powder tool. I took them out on some groomers early in the season and they responded much better than what I was expecting. The ski chatters on groomers but that was expected since it has a good amount of rocker but they do carve and respond like a groomer ski.
In powder these things are boss, stiff enough to land medium sized drops and soft enough to bounce around in the deep.I ride mine with Jesters and it makes the set up a little heavy when hiking but the way they ride make it well worth it. Over all I love these skis, when it snows I dont think id want to use anything but these.

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

I got EP pros this year, and used them almost everyday from March 1st till the end of the season. Here is a quick comparison...
EP Pro, Volkl Chopsticks, K2 Hellbent, Atomic Bent Chetler.

Ice: not as stable as Volkl Chopsticks, but easier to maneuver. None of these skis are very fun on ice though.

Pow: More pop, butter, float, and responsiveness than everything else... period.

Park: more buttery and lighter than the others, but you have to land square on, or they jump out from under you.

Groomers: Again, not ideal terrain, but they are snappy, and do not hook up, thanks to the early taper. The Bent Chetlers were too turny, not enough effective edge.

Hard Charging/steeps/cliffs: Again, you have to be in the middle of the ski, they are soft. But I dropped 20-30 foot cliffs with little problem. The fat tail dimensions make them a little cumbersome on extremely steep, tight terrain, but I prefer a fat tail.

Durability: For how soft they are, I have not broken them yet, but the topsheet chips a little. But it doesn't hurt the ski.

Verdict? I will not buy any other pow ski, unless someone comes up with something better, but for now, EP is king of rocker pow skis.

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

I have been riding this ski for two years now and it is a great ski. Obviously this ski is awsome in powder and it I was surprised with its ability to carve on groomers. It does well in chopped snow as well, however it is too soft for me. It can get pretty floppy and sketchy when charging anything but powder. If you want a ski to play around with in powder, this is a great ski, if you are going to be charging in less than ideal conditions get something stiffer.

Comments about Line Skis EP Pro Skis 2010:

I demoed this ski yesterday, and had a great time on the 5" new at the hill. I was able to slide and slash and pop off everything without fear of being shot like a rocket when hitting the crust underneath the pow. It took a few runs to figure out how to carve them on the groom, but once I did they lay down solid arcs with a short radius. In the cut up pow it was obvious that they float through the uncut and knife through the chop giving great control at higher speeds. A lot of fun to rip on these skis for the float and the ease of turning in the trees. I think for me I'd rather have a little stiffer tail for support after getting popped off a pillow and landing off balance in flat light. Or I just need to get more forward for the ski.
