K2 SuperFree Skis + Marker ERS 11.0 TC Bindings - Women's 2012: The K2 SuperFree Skis with All-Terrain Rocker™ is the most versatile ski in the Super Models line, spanning from intermediate to expert skier for groomed snow to off-piste terrain. Women’s specific BioFlex Core and Mod Technology offer an optimal level of control and energy in a lightweight, high performance ski. Swift, smooth turns have never felt so natural; so hop on a pair and set yourself free.
Shape
All-Terrain Rocker™ is designed for all ability levels with added versatility and ease in all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance with camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Construction
Lighter weight Women’s-Specific Mod Technology places thickness and mass in the optimum location to absorb vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge hold, power, and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, leaving the overall ski flex unaffected.
Women’s Specific Mod Monic is a focused mass-dampener made of a solid zinc mass that focuses mass dampening at a targeted location on the Mod structure.
Hybritech Sidewalls are a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions that combine the accuracy, power, and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Bindings
The K2 SuperFree Skis come with the Marker ERS 11.0 TC Bindings. This high end binding integrates with the ERS Plate through Titanal hubs that are imbedded into the core of the ski for the most direct transmission of power. The system hubs are functionally wider with a 50mm footprint, which decreases the distance between the binding and the edge of the ski for added performance.
Core and Flex Pattern
BioFlex 2 Core (70% Aspen, 30% Paulownia): dense Aspen underfoot fused with lightweight Paulownia at the tip and tail with blended Bamboo throughout for reduced swing weight with added performance.
Triaxial Braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around the wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Carving
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Carving
For those that like the classic feeling of laying a ski over on edge and arcing a perfect turn, carving skis are what you want. These skis have narrower waists and shorter turn radii for edge to edge quickness and responsive turn initiation and exit on groomed runs and hard pack. The beginner-intermediate skis in this category are designed to make learning how to turn as easy as going from pizza to French fries.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber
    Rocker/Camber
Rocker/Camber skis pair a traditional cambered profile underfoot with an elongated, early rise tip borrowed from fully rockered skis. This profile places the front contact point further back from the tip, while the rear contact point remains close to the tail. The rockered tip allows for better flotation and less edge catch for increased float in deep snow, while the cambered rear stores and transmits energy similarly to a fully cambered ski.
  • Turning Radius: Short
  • Core/Laminates: Bamboo, Wood
  • Tail Type: Flat
    Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.

    Comments about K2 SuperFree Skis + Marker ERS 11.0 TC Bindings - Women's 2012:

Just returned from a week in Park CIty. Superfrees were excellent this week and provided great stability on the slopes. Very responsive and quick downhill. They did well in light powder, but I wouldn't recommend them in deep powder. For intermediate and advanced intermediate all mountain skis, however, these are highly recommended.

Great skis for small women who are advancing to upper level skiing. Good grip on ice, slush, and light powder - have used in all conditions and all types of skiing - groomed relaxed runs, quick turns in trees, bumps, fast and slow. Also very attractive!

        Comments about K2 SuperFree Skis + Marker ERS 11.0 TC Bindings - Women's 2012:

I demoed some Rossignols then the K2 SuperFree and fell in love with them. I was skiing a 167 Olin and had a hard time keeping up with my two daughters after a few runs my legs were aching. I bought 153 K2 SuperFree and now fly like the wind they can't keep up with me. No more aching legs. I'm 57 and they are 25 and 30. Now I'm a believer in the shorter length ski. I'm 5'3" and 138 lbs and absolutely love these ski's. They are also adorable couldn't ask for more.

I demoed several skis this winter. This ski was amazing for me. TheVolkl Kenja was a little heavy for me (I weigh 104 LBS and am 5'5")I could barely ski on The Salomon Geisha but this K2 was amazing. All I have to do is basically think "left" and my skis turn left!
