K2 SuperBright 102 Skis - Women's 2014

The K2 SuperBright 102 Skis take the place of the venerable GotBack in K2's 2014 lineup. Wide enough to float the deep and stable enough to rip hard snow and groomers when you need to, the SuperBright 102 is built with lightness foremost in mind, making it nimble in tight chutes and trees and a perfect candidate for winter touring. The K2 SuperBright 102 Skis are Z-Clip Skin compatible so let your next adventure be as bright as the skis on your feet.
Rocker Type
All-Terrain Rocker - Designed for all ability levels, All-Terrain Rocker adds versatility and ease in all snow conditions. This profile features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edgehold in firmer conditions.

Sidecut
Progressive Sidecut - Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Core
BioFlex 2 - 70% Aspen and 30% Paulownia for reduced swing weight with added performance

Laminates
Triaxial Braid - Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to enhance torsional rigidity and add control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength while maintaining the lively flex patterns inherent in wood.

Carbon Web - Carbon Web enhances the strength-to-weight ratio, gaining downhill performance without adding additional mass. Located in the tail and the forebody of the ski, the Carbon Web increases edge grip where you need it most.

Topsheet
Snophobic Topsheets - Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, our SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow-repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so we’ve developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model-specific topsheets.

Sidewalls
Cap Construction - Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance.

Additional Features
K2 Tip Grommets/Skin Clip - The new freeride tip grommet is a low profile, clean and simple design that no longer requires a plug. The durable rubber coating disguises a slit designed to accommodate the Z clip for skin attachments, or to build a rescue sled.

Z-Clip skin compatible
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
  • Ability Level: Advanced-Expert
    Advanced-Expert
Whether you charge the steepest lines, carve with race-like precision, hit the biggest jumps or halfpipes; advanced to expert level skis/snowboards are for the more aggressive rider. You will often find the addition of layers of metal, carbon, bamboo, or other stringers in these. These features work to make a stiffer ski/snowboard with more power and rebound.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber
    Rocker/Camber
Rocker/Camber skis pair a traditional cambered profile underfoot with an elongated, early rise tip borrowed from fully rockered skis. This profile places the front contact point further back from the tip, while the rear contact point remains close to the tail. The rockered tip allows for better flotation and less edge catch for increased float in deep snow, while the cambered rear stores and transmits energy similarly to a fully cambered ski.
  • Turning Radius: Medium
    Medium
17-22 m radius is best for all-mountain and park & pipe.
  • Core/Laminates: Wood
  • Tail Type: Flat
    Flat
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow.
