Comments about K2 Seth Skis 2008:

I am blown away by how these skis rip. I know they lean heavy towards powder conditions, but they handle anything you can imagine. I live in the north east (I Know "Boooooo") I ski the east, and i wanted to find a ski that infact could ski the east and it's rapidly changing conditions. The Seth just beats the snot out of anything you throw its way. Moguls are a bit challenging if you have stiff boots and lack the leg strength to work the ski. They beg to get airborne, and go fast, they want to make freshies worst than you do, and most importantly when on the snow they are solid stable and grip the path like all wheel drive.

    So quick re-cap;
    Pros:
    fast
    does everything
    stable
    big confidence booster
    Cons:
Ifyou dont go fast turning can be a little trouble some
Not good for small peple who lack leg strength, can be a little stiff

Bottom line they rip, and will just splatter your mind all over the mountain at how awesome they are.

Comments about K2 Seth Skis 2008:

I've used these for back country touring with Fritchi freeride bindings. While they have wicked flotation in the pow, and practically turn themselves thay are pretty heavy for touring, probably not their intended use. They are however a pretty good all mountain ski for their size, a pretty decent carver. They seem to be more scratch-resistant than other K2s i've owned but I've only got about 6 uses so far this year so i can't say for sure. All round decent ski, great bang for the buck.

Comments about K2 Seth Skis 2008:

Just got back from Kirkwood, skied varied terrain, cliffs, chutes, bumps, tree's, in various conditions, powder, heavy clumps, groomed. The skied performed very well. I could have used a fatter ski for the powder, thinner ski for the bumps and a stiffer ski for the cruisers, but, this one hit the mark for a combinaton of all 3. It plows through anything with a smooth ride, very light for quicker turns, and floated pretty good in 12 inches of fresh. The tip is pretty soft to absorb and it felt a little different when you press on it as you don't get that consistent flex, due to the slight rocker as well. But, it still held well at top speeds once you get used to rolling that ankle a little harder to get it up on edge. A great all around ski that I enjoyed riding. I would highly recommend it as that one ski in the quiver, especially out west as I am from Boston and we see more firm groomers(ice) and bumps than thick snow and powder.

Comments about K2 Seth Skis 2008:

The 2008 Seth Vicious ski is an incredibly versatile weapon that allows you to attack the whole mountain. The skis are stable on all surfaces except "bulletproof" ice. They are very maneuverable in the bumps and trees. At 98mm under foot they are stable in choppy snow and crud. They provide adequate flotation in powder.

The only "con" I have found is that the top sheet is easy to chip/scuff.

Comments about K2 Seth Skis 2008:

As an avid Alpiner I forayed into the Telemark Realm about 5 years ago and at first mounted up a pair of old Volkl G40's with Voile Hardwires - probably not the best set up to learn on but I was convinced that the telemark turn with the onset of plastic boots and active bindings didn't need to take a back seat in terms of strength, length, flex or shape to our Alpine brothers. One thing I didn't learn until after riding my 2nd tele set up (Fischer Big Stix 86 with G3 targas) was that the ski/binding/boot combination was critical to maximizing performance of the ski. With that said - The 2008 K2 Seth provides everything I need in an all mountain all snow set up for inbounds, side country and back country riding. My criterea for my one and only do it all set up was, floatation in powder without sacrificing on piste stability and cabable of being coaxed into any turn shape. That is a lot to ask of a ski today but fortunately, there are skis out there to match everyones personal style. I read great reviews and talked to folks on the mountain about the K2 Hippy stinx (same dimensions and build as the K2 seth 2007) just marketed to the tele crowd but these were getting harder and harder to find at a good price in a 179cm length. I was excited and concerned about the '08 seth's new performance characteristics based on the mini rocker. I knew that would help float in powder but was concerned that the rocker might make them squirrly on hard snow or ski really short making me think that a longer length would be necessary. In the end, I mounted the skis with Hammerheads right on the peak of the camber. After a dozen days on the mountain I can tell you this: they are as good as the reviews say. Powder performance is incredible and on-piste control is surprisingly good. They are at home in medium radius turns but are very capable of short and long radius turns, slarve turns and the inevitable survival skid. High speed is confident as well. I haven't experienced any hooking. As a matter of fact it feels as though the entire edge is engaged when carving big GS turns (I originally that that the rockered tip would just constantly flap around). At the end of the day I'd recommend a 189cm length if you're an average sized guy alpining on these but the 179cm is absolutely perfect for tele. I'm 5'11, 185 lbs. I should mention that I highly recommend an active binding on these. I found the Hammerhead on setting 4 is perfect for all around. setting 3, i was jonesin for a bit more bite and on setting 5 I experienced a bit of tip dive in powder. Also, I always hiked the skis on my back in the backcountry - not sure how to get skins to latch onto the tail yet - with that said, they're not that heavy. Lastly, the only reason I rated these as a 4 is because there wasn't a 4.5 option and a 5 would just sound overzealous.
