Product Info

We hate to break it to you, but the cold hard reality is most of us ski more crud than blower pow. If this holds true for you, the K2 HardSide Skis are your ideal weapon. They deliver powerful precision and confidence on rock hard boilerplate, and All-Terrain Rocker™ and a moderate waist won’t leave you wanting when La Nina finally comes through for you.

Product Details

Shape

All-Terrain Rocker™Designed for all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance and camber underfoot for power, energy, and edgehold in firmer conditions.

Progressive SidecutA combination of two different radii that enhances the versatility of wider-waist skis. This guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Powder TipPulls the widest point of the tip further down the ski, which retains float in soft snow, and also minimizes deflection in adverse snow conditions.

Construction

Aspen/Paulownia/Maple CoreAspen is known for its inherent strength and durability, while the Paulownia is eco-friendly and lightweight. Maple adds durability and power.

TNC Metal Laminate ConstructionWeight reduction is paramount in the BackSide series. The BackSide specific TNC metal laminate lessens weight while providing an accurate and responsive feel.

Hybritech Sidewall ConstructionBuilt into the wider waisted Side models and combines the accuracy and powerful performance of a sidewall underfoot with the lightweight and smooth turn initiation feeling of a cap.

Additional Features

Tip/Tail HardwareVastly increases the skis’ utility: By allowing you to build a rescue sled or construct various ski anchors, you can carry less weight while increasing your safety margin. These holes also function as attachment points for K2 Pre-Cut Skins and come with a removable plug.

Skin Clip ArcThe tails are designed with a concave notch to ensure that the skin clip, regardless of size or skin brand, stays securely centered on the tail.

Binding Compatibility

We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Comments about K2 HardSide Skis 2013:

Giggly fun everywhere....dominates the pow & crud...quick turning on the groomers....truly a "One Ski Quiver". If you only ski groomers, try a race ski, but if you want to go everywhere on the mountain and can't afford a full quiver for every condition, then you should do yourself a favor and buy the Hardsides. All Terrain Tip Rocker & camber with flat tails. Love 'em!

Comments about K2 HardSide Skis 2013:

I mainly ski the east. The first day I rode these bad boys was all ice and they held there edge without a doubt. A few weeks later I rode them on a fresh pow day of about a foot and the early rise was an absolute dream. These are real high quality skis and I look forward to being a witness to their awesomeness for years to come!

Comments about K2 HardSide Skis 2013:

These are a great slack and backcountry ski. The precut skins are a huge plus and the ski gives you a lot more than the average backcountry ski. There is a lot of pop and still a decent amount of stiffness. Had them up in some uncut fresh and they floated, had them in some icky manmade chop and they got through it. I am pretty light/ small (5 2 110) for a 184 so I have to keep track of them a little bit, but once I got them figured out I loved them. Really excited about this ski for this year.
