K2 CoomBack Skis 2012: The only ski versatile enough to be named after the late pro skier and heli guide Doug Coombs, the K2 CoomBack Skis combine the best of all ski worlds. These skis carry the lightweight characteristics of K2’s other touring skis combined with the all-mountain rockered performance characterized by its bigger brothers. New for 2012, the K2 CoomBack Skis have the addition of Carbon Web technology to create an added level of responsiveness while staying lightweight. Throw a myriad of bindings on this ski and make it your go to ski for powder, ice, and touring of all sizes.
Shape
All-Terrain Rocker™ is designed for all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance and improved skinning ascent with camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Progressive Sidecut is a combination of two different radii that enhances the versatility of wider-waist skis. This guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Construction
Cap Construction is durable, lightweight, and softer, built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski.
Powder Tip tapers early to avoid hooking.
Tip/Tail Hardware - removable plugs reveal holes that can be used to attach K2 Pre-Cut Skins or build a rescue sled
SnoPhobic tops keeps the ski light with a snow-repellent topsheet
Flex
Fir and Aspen core: solid and dense woods known for their inherent strength and durability.
Triaxial Braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around the wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. This makes the ski incredibly energetic and responsive, while maintaining a level of ease in all levels of skis.
Carbon Web is a weave of carbon strands that envelopes the Mod structure for an additional level of torsional rigidity, while still keeping the ski light.
Dimensions
22m @ 174cm 135/102/121 (all sizes)
Binding Compatibility
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.

Comments about K2 CoomBack Skis 2012:

These are the comments my boyfriend made after using these skis at the end of the season in Southern CO--icy crud in the morning, slush in the afternoon. He is an expert tele skier (great low backcountry form and aggressive) and wanted to go a bit shorter and lighter. He loves these skis! He picked them out and Evo had the best prices. Some cosmetic imperfections were pointed out by the guys who mounted them, but nothing that made us regret the purchase especially for the price. He can't wait to use these in the powder and the backcountry next season!

Light for touring. Fat with slight tip rocker for powder.just stiff and sidecut enough to ride without flapping on harder terrain or groomers. Go long!

Comments about K2 CoomBack Skis 2012:

Well I just got the 188 dropped on my door step, first reaction: wow, stiffer than I expected, but i mean that in a good way, the carbon reinforced tip and tail seem to work. a good thing to note is they run way long, stacked up to my 188 s7 they are at least 3 inches longer. Either way i cant wait to get on them for some Alaska touring.
