K2 Bad Seed Skis + FasTrack2 7.0 Bindings - Youth 2012: The K2 Bad Seed Skis have been planted and there will be no stopping them or the grommets ripping with them. This ski is wide enough underfoot and comes with All-Terrain Rocker™, making it capable of destroying its way through all adverse conditions and float on the deeper stuff. The Bad Seed is perfect for the all-around young ripper who skis on and off piste.
Shape
All-Terrain Rocker™ is designed for all ability levels with added versatility and ease in all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip and tail for variable and soft snow performance with camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Directional Taper Sidecut maximizes the performance of the ski in the forward direction. The ski makes a slightly different arc when skiing switch.
Construction
Cap Construction is durable, lightweight, and softer, built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski.
Bindings
The K2 Bad Seed Skis come with the Marker FasTrrack2 7.0 Bindings. This is the perfect junior binding for a fast-growing kid since it can handle heavier junior weight and adult and junior boot soles.
Core and Flex Pattern
Aspen and Paulownia core: Aspen is solid and dense; Paulownia is an eco-friendly, fast-growing renewable wood that is incredibly strong and lightweight.
Triaxial Braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around the wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. This makes the ski incredibly energetic and responsive.

Specs

  • Terrain: All-Mountain, Park & Pipe
    All-Mountain
All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm.
    Park & Pipe
Park and pipe skis, often called freestyle skis, are for skiers who spend the majority of their time on jumps, rails, and jibs of all kinds. Traditionally park and pipe skis have narrower waists with full camber profiles, but this category is incorporating more rocker patterns and different shapes. You will almost always find these skis with twin tips as well as other park specific features like thicker, more durable edges, dense extruded bases, and butter zones.
  • Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
    Intermediate-Advanced
The majority of skiers/snowboarders fall into this level, whether you like to carve on groomers or venture into the powder. These skis/snowboards may be somewhat wider than beginner-intermediate skis, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction. Depending on the type of ski, intermediate-advanced level skis may have full camber, rocker, or some combination of the two.
  • Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker
    Rocker/Camber/Rocker
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as will as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
  • Turning Radius: Short
  • Core/Laminates: Wood
  • Tail Type: Full Twin Tip
    Full Twin Tip
Desinged to allow you to ski backwards, full twin tips are found primarily on park & pipe skis and freestyle powder skis. More and more, we are seeing twin tips on all-mountain skis of all abilities, as it makes it a little easier to get around, and for the most part does not inhibit forward skiing.

Comments about K2 Bad Seed Skis + FasTrack2 7.0 Bindings - Youth 2012:

My 11 year old son has progressed from advanced beginner to beginning advanced this season. The starter skis were not keeping up with his off-piste exploration. This ski and binding set allow him the flexibilty to explore much more of the mountain than before. His friend now has the same skis. He really enjoys the ability to float in deep snow. He loves the graphics!

    Comments about K2 Bad Seed Skis + FasTrack2 7.0 Bindings - Youth 2012:

My son previously owned the 2011 Bad Seeds in 119cm. He grew 3.5" over the summer and needed a bigger set of sticks. There was no question that we were going with the 2012 Bad Seeds in 129cm.

Amazing ski. Great edge hold, good off-piste and in moderately deep powder.
