K2 Apache Recon Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Bindings 2010: Tested and proven time and time again as the ultimate high performance ski for all conditions. The Recon fits right in between the Crossfire and Xplorer in the line with its 78 mm waist width making it the ultimate 50/50 ski for expert skiers. Using MOD Monic Technology to help dampen vibrations for a smoother ride, the Recon blends the perfect amount of waist and tip width to create a platform that floats in softer snow and crud and combines a generous sidecut for hard snow performance.
Shape
Standard taper
Construction
Metal Laminate Cap construction: alternating layers of fiberglass, plus titanium above and below the wood core for unshakable performance. MOD Monic Technology centralizes mass for optimal smooth rides
Core and Flex Pattern
Fir/Aspen wood core for inherent strength, durability, and energy
Binding
The Marker MX binding system gives the most direct transition of power for unmatched precision and control by offering a wider contact to ski. Marker’s Inter-Pivot Heel technology has a wider footprint extending its contact point closer to the ski edge for added performance. The MX system also has tighter tolerance between the binding and the surface of the secondary ski core for a more precise feel.

These skis are perfect for my husband. He's an advanced skier at 6'2", 250 lbs. They are substantial and durable for his size but lightweight enough. I bought them without him demoing them. The salesperson nailed the right ski for him and it turned out perfect. He skied in the Northeast and in UT already on them and was totally enamored. He's obsessed. They carved smoothly on the hard snow and groomed powder and gave him the perfect support and performance in the soft moguls in UT. All around very happy! Thanks!!!

Comments about K2 Apache Recon Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Bindings 2010:

A Very solid performer across both groomed and powder. Skis fast and is stable with very little chatter. Carves high speed corners on groomed. I haven't seen enough powder to really float them. For the life of me I don't know why K2 stopped making these skis, but if there is a hit to these skis you could say they are a little heavy. If you are looking to get one ski that does it all this is a great choice. And if you buy it anywhere but EVO you will pay more. I doesn't matter what ski equipment I buy EVO always seems to be the low cost solution.

Comments about K2 Apache Recon Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Bindings 2010:

I was looking for a solid all-around ski to handle the variety of conditions we get in the Pacific NW. The Recons are rock solid at high speeds - no hint of chatter, quick and stable edge to edge, have plenty of flotation in the deep stuff, and reasonably nimble in the bumps and trees. I've had several great days in a variety of conditions. Bombproof ski at a great price.

Comments about K2 Apache Recon Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Bindings 2010:

I was looking for some new skis this year to replace the metal Volants that I was using for the last 15 years. Almost talked into a pair of the new fatter skis but just wasnt convinced. I'm not a ski expert, just like to have fun. A friend suggested these. I'm 55, still love to ski hard but it is great to have some skis that are so easy to carve. Have used them on everything form hard packed,(very easy to hold an edge) to foot of fresh snow. Maybe they dont float on top like fatter skis but how often do you worry about that in the Northwest? Great all mountain ski.

First: High praise for evo! Excellent product selection, service before the sale, pricing and expedited delivery of product! The K2 Recon performed beautifully- responsive turning, very smooth chatter-free ride with an excellent grip. In my estimation the perfect ski for intermediate/advanced groomed to light/moderate powder! Thanks evo!

Comments about K2 Apache Recon Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Bindings 2010:

These are really good all-mountain skis for intermediate-advanced skier. They are nicely dampened; there's not too much chatter on icy stuff, but at the same time they're generally playful enough. They are wide enough to give you some stability, but not too wide to sacrifice maneuverability.

Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to try these guys out in really deep powder, but they performed well in the 5-6 inches of fresh that we got. Flotation was good, and they turned nicely.

The integrated bindings generally work well, though entry and exit are somewhat difficult compared to other bindings I've used.
