The K2 Apache Outlaw is built to ride off piste and primarily in softer snow conditions. The unique progressive sidecut design provides versatility and agility to the K2 Apache Outlaw. More sidecut in the shovel and less at the tail provide the Outlaw with the perfect balance of turn initiating sidecut with all the softer snow benefits of width underfoot. The new K2/Marker M1 Ski-Binding System sets the standard for performance and integrated industrial design. The design of the M1 toe and heel spacers are 30% wider than other rail systems thus extending binding contact points closer to the edge of the ski. This design increases leverage and power transfer. A fixed heel and floating toe drives power down and forward while still allowing the ski to flex freely, in a more consistent round arc thus maximizing the Apache Outlaw skis performance.

  • MOD Technology:MOD combines an elastomeric secondary core which works as a high performance suspension system and mass damper to provide the highest degree of ease, power, forgiveness and performance available in skis.
  • MOD Monic:MOD Monic is a module that is placed strategically in the primary area where vibrations associated with high performance skiing occur most. Monic dampens unwanted vibrations at their source, resulting in the perfect balance between high performance liveliness and damping.
  • Progressive Sidecut:Progressive Sidecut provides wider waist skis with more versatility to be used in all conditions. Sidecut progressively increases as you move up the length of the ski from the tail to the tip. This provides confident and quick initiation on hard snow, while allowing easy release in powder and crud.
  • Metal Laminate:Metal Laminate ski performs very precise and accurate as well as being extremely stable and damp primarily because of the 2 sheets of titanium and extra glass layers. While not as forgiving as other ski constructions, Metal Laminate skis traditionally have a stiffer flex profile and thus designed for more aggressive and technical skiers.

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker Piston M1 12.0 Bindings 2007:

Almost can't say anything bad about the Apache Outlaw because this skis just rocks in any condition. Over the past few years many companies have been trying to design the perfect "All Mtn" ski. I really think K2 has hit a home run with this ski. I skied a pair last winter in Whistler for 3 days and would say I experienced just about every kind of condition. Fresh POW from 13" to chopped crud, groomers, even bumps and I never ski bumps unless I must. However, after a few runs, I was looking for em'. You couldn't make a better choice for a ski to do it ALL.

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker Piston M1 12.0 Bindings 2007:

Picked up at the end of 2006 and skied once at Alpental in the spring. The outlaw is a somewhat heavy, metal ski, hence the pro and con. The metal construction makes for a ski that rips in virtually any condition to be sure. I only skied in spring- steep corn, moguls, moguls getting really soft, and hard, frozen, groomed corn that hadn't seen the sun. Turning these skis on hard frozen snow is strange as with any wide ski you don't edge over, but rather a tall roll over and it takes a bit longer for the ski to come around on hardpack. I think they will do much better on packed powder/non frozen, but that's not what they're for. I can already tell these skis will excel in any condition off-piste, and look forward to hitting some Crystal Mt. backcountry or some BC pow. I am 6-3, 220 and ski in a 181 with a very aggressive "power skier" style - blow through and over - and these skis deliver.

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker Piston M1 12.0 Bindings 2007:

I am a pretty good skier for having perhaps only 200 days of skiing in my 54 years. I have been very happy on my Atomic Metron EX's, which gave me confidence in nearly all conditions. I figured that my next purchace would be a big soft powder ski. That was before I first rode the Outlaw, (thanks to a baggage snafu).

The Outlaw's performance was nothing short of a revalation. I was shocked that two similar skis could be so different. Even though this ski is wider and heavier than the already heavy EX, I felt like I had been given an experience injection. Wiithin hours I realized that I had achieved a greater level of the characteristics in my skiing that I so admired in very strong skiers. namely fluidity, nimbleness, and a commitment to the fall line. The ski holds an edge realy well. On packed powder I am able to vary my carving arc from giant to tight with ease. It eats crud and is agile in the bumps. The ski has terrific balance and transmits a feel for the snow underfoot that promotes authoritive skiing. I have not used the ski in icy conditions, but I expect that it will hold its own.
And in powder? A picture is worth a thousand words :-) .... I still have a big fat powder ski on my wish list, but it's moved down a line or two and my EX's are heading for Ebay.

Comments about K2 Apache Outlaw Skis + Marker Piston M1 12.0 Bindings 2007:

I bought these skis at the end of last season. I put a pair of fritschi randonee bindings on them and they are awesome!!! They perform extremely well in the back country, where skinning and hiking is a must! However, I have used them at some resorts and believe it or not, they actually do pretty well there also. They are definitely for an expert skier, though. They can be unforgiving! If you are an expert skier who likes to make off piste hits, but still likes the resort as well, these are awesome! They are a little heavy, but that goes for any powder ski. They are extremely durable, as I have hucked plenty of cliffs with them. K2 has definitely done it again!
