K2 A.M.P. Shockwave Skis + M2 11.0 TC Bindings 2011

A.M.P. Shockwave Skis + M2 11.0 TC Bindings 2011: The K2 A.M.P. Shockwave Skis offers a smooth blend of performance, forgiveness, and stability. This balance is achieved by combining a versatile 78mm waist width, moderate sidecut, and game changing All-Terrain Rocker that helps initiate turns on hard snow and keeps the ski from deflecting in variable snow. The K2 A.M.P. Shockwave Skis will handle all conditions, especially excelling on groomers.
Shape
All Terrain Rocker – 70% Camber, 30% Rocker. The All-Terrain Rocker is the most versatile Baseline™ available featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft-snow performance and camber underfoot for power, energy and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Construction
Torsion Box construction is a process of wrapping fiberglass around a wood core that produces light, lively skis. Torsion box has become the most widely used construction because if it’s highly versatile process, and has enabled K2 to build numerous models from entry to expert level skis. While flex and torsion vary, Torsion Box skis share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness and energy. Triaxial braiding gives the K2 A.M.P. Shockwave Skis great torsional strength, while maintaining the lively flex patterns of the wood core.
Included Bindings
Bindings do not come mounted to the skis. Always have a certified technician mount and adjust the bindings.
Binding Compatibility
The marker M2 is the ultimate ski/ plate/ binding system designed for recreational skiers. It utilizes a new Two Linkage Toe and a fixed Compact2 Heel design to generate more power, precision and quickness underfoot. The Marker M2 systems’ sleek design is graphically integrated into the look of the A.M.P. Series skis.
Core and Flex Pattern
Mod Technology functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected. Mod Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass dampening at a targeted location.

    Comments about K2 A.M.P. Shockwave Skis + M2 11.0 TC Bindings 2011:

I purchased these skis as a back-up pair. I like the carving ability but they seem to chatter a lot over groomed or mangy when any speed is applied. I'm a bit disappointed but it's not really the fault of the skis, more a poor choice for my needs. I think they would be terrific for beginner to intermediate skiers who just want to carve better.
