K2 A.M.P. Rictor Skis 2012: Bringing the scale level higher than you’ve ever seen for a versatile high performance ski, the K2 A.M.P. Rictor Skis are ready to shatter all landscapes. The Rictor easily makes itself at home on the steepest, rock-solid groomer or the back bowls on a powder day. With the perfect combination of All-Terrain Rocker™, width, and shape; this expert level one-ski quiver with have a range of skiers charging from first chair to last. BINDINGS ARE NOT INCLUDED.
Shape
All-Terrain Rocker™ is designed for all ability levels with added versatility and ease in all snow conditions, featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance with camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Progressive Sidecut is a combination of two different radii that enhances the versatility of wider-waist skis. This guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Construction
Mod Technology is a high-performance suspension system that absorbs vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge hold, power, and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, leaving the overall ski flex unaffected.
Mod Monic is a focused mass-dampener made of a solid zinc mass that focuses mass dampening at a targeted location on the Mod structure.
Hybritech Sidewalls are a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions that combine the accuracy, power, and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Flex
Aspen and Paulownia core: Aspen is solid and dense; Paulownia is an eco-friendly, fast-growing renewable wood that is incredibly strong and lightweight.
Metal Laminate consists of 2 sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski. Alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal sandwich the wood core to provide dampened, accurate, and unshakable performance.
Binding Compatibility
BINDINGS ARE NOT INCLUDED. We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15mm wider.

      Comments about K2 A.M.P. Rictor Skis 2012:

Unfortunately we ran out of the '11/12 season in Tahoe before I could ski them, but I demo'd the K2 Rictor for the last two seasons, leading me to eventually make the purchase late this season. I had continued to ski my Rossignol 4S-Kevlars forever, after the end of the racing days, and was reluctant to make the change. The Rictor was the first shape ski I tried, and I was immediately blown away by how it essentially skied for me. I can still drive the 4S-Kevlars just as well on any terrain, but with considerably more effort. I then tried various other makes/models by other manufacturer's over the last 2 seasons, but they all felt dead under foot, completely unresponsive, and exhausting to ski, backing up my 15 years of skepticism about shape skis. In a day when everyone seems to have a different pair of skis for every permutation of mountain conditions and every hour of the day, save yourself some cash, and your time swapping skis all day, and just go with the K2 Rictor. Unless you get paid to ski, these boards are really all you need.

Great ski, continues in the Axis Pro XP tradition. Fast and stable (6'2", 210#), good on ice, good in bumps at 181cm.

            Comments about K2 A.M.P. Rictor Skis 2012:

K2 have always been my preferred ski. I work in the ski industry Northern and Southern Hemisphere - so I'm skiing all year. I got a new pair of K2 Rictors for the Australian season, good ski. My problem I got hit by an out of control skier and the whole binding broke off my ski, the plate bent. I probably only got six days skiing out of them. The skis were taken to the trade show and the K2 rep didn't want to know about them. Very disappointed with the company. You might think that such a reputable company would take a little more interest in how easily these skis fell to pieces. Because of my work hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't ask about skis - naturally I explain there are many reasons for people to choose different skis. But after such shabby treatment from K2, I'll make sure I tell them if you need good customer back up, then definitely DON'T GET K2!
