Product Info

The Icelantic Gypsy Skis are the ideal candidates for someone looking to have fun in soft snow. This playful, bouncy, rockered ski with a mid / stiff flex turns any mountain into a playground. Coming in at 125 mm underfoot and with nearly symmetrical dimensions, the Gypsy will float through powder both forward and switch with ease, while its magical gypsy powers allow it to rail corners on hardpack. This is no ordinary powder ski.

Comments about Icelantic Gypsy Skis 2014:

The Gypsy delivers. I've been skiing for 30 years, grew up skiing Tahoe and have skied all over the world, and the Gypsy has firmly earned its place as my all time favorite ski. It's hard to believe, only b/c I don't think I ever felt like I could advocate one single pair of sticks like I can advocate these. Of late, they've been with to Las Lenas, Valdez, Snowbird, Highlands, Vail and Squaw, and they're coming with me to Japan, hell I practically sleep with them this time of year. Come snow, or come groomers, hell or high water, this is my ski of choice anywhere I ski Colorado. I'm not a ski critic, I can't speak to all the intricacies of the cut and the feel of the ride, only that I can ski this ski with more conviction then any ski I've ever had....

Comments about Icelantic Gypsy Skis 2014:

I have these in 190 with the look pivot 14 bindings mounted about 1 cm in front of boot center. They're so fat and rockered they can't not float, and that's certainly what they do best. However the decent sidecut and rock solid edges actually keep it reasonably lively and usable on hardpack. If you're scared of the rocker, don't be... The tips and tails are so beefy that chatter is kept to an absolute minimum. Having said that, if the snow's not soft you gotta keep them on edge; there just isn't a big enough contact patch to straight-line on hard snow, which can be tiresome on flatter runouts when you're trying to save your legs. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how they handled trees as well. Because the shape is near symmetrical, there is actually less ski in front of my binding than on my 184 skis, which helps with maneuverability. Stay out of moguls. Overall definitely a recommended ski, but definitely not a one-ski quiver.

Also, I got a heck of a deal buying from Evo... Had to at least mention that

Comments about Icelantic Gypsy Skis 2014:

Good but not the best. I am 6' 195 lbs and consider myself a skilled skier. I chose the 180 cm length and mounted them with boot center at the BC mark. I prefer a more mellow approach to skiing and normally do not rage down the hill at Mach 5 unless necessary. The quality of the product is good but as stated earlier not the best. If I had paid full price I would have sent them back due to the large scratch in the base of each ski about 3' long from the base grinder. On the other hand if that is the worst they get I have not been to far from the beaten path. The skis perform great on soft snow when charging down the hill. They are not nearly as playful as I had hoped and do not like to be driven at slow speeds which makes the leisurely runs through the trees more work. The flex is a little more stiff than not, hence the need for speed to perform. The skis will work on the groom and well if the snow is soft. However if given the choice of walking or going through some moguls, I would choose the walking. All things being considered equal these skis are a good if not a great big mountain powder hound for the price. If you are looking for a light, nimble and playful ski these are not for you.

What an amazing ski!!! so wide and floaty but also nimble and surprisingly good on groomed terrain. Nordica Patron is still my all mountain tool, but this sticks are just as good on groomed/bumps and kick the #$#@@# out of patrons (a ski that I love) on fresh stuff - simply amazing - build quality is awesome (love the burly edges)

Comments about Icelantic Gypsy Skis 2014:

          Wow. This thing is FUN.
Bouncing, Floating, Forwards and Backwards.... Your friends will hate you for leading.

These things know how to play while taking skiing to an all time high/"serious note". If you do not have a powder day - take these things on the groomed runs and enjoy the complete full edge grip that it provides. It is not your everyday "powder" ski. They fly!

Have fun with them, bounce around and all out; GO PLAY. 125MM under foot, lightweight, versatile, big boy ski. These skis have changed my skiing for the better. If you would like to become a stronger more dominate skier in the trees and powder. THIS IT A MUST.

Enjoy them as I have been doing so :)
